| Bryco's FJ Buggy build
So, new to building things using my imagination, not just kits with instructions, so have patience with me on this one folks. Started with a chassis i picked up from a local builder. Goal for the chassis was to run a 1.9 setup with drooped rear and a FJ40 style body. After lots of homework and some imagination this is where I am so far: Still need to take the springs off the rear shocks, and the pic doesnt show that I'm using small red o-rings that go between the cage's welded in nuts and body to keep it nice and snug when all 25 screws are holding the body to it. Also loved the look of the new poison spider front bumper from the new rubicon kit so kept that when i bought a new kit for a new scx tranny and mounted that to the brazed steel front bumper: Lastly for today are some pics of my styrene work, everything gets bolted into place in the end, so these are just rough fittings after paint, you can also see the metal firewall and interior piece that goes over the tranny, this is also where my scale aluminum seats will mount: Hope to get more done tonight and tomorrow and hope to have more pics up. Thanks for looking! -bryan |

That's thing is absolutely bitchin man! But for some reason that front bumper just seems to really throw it off. By the looks of your tube work I'm sure you'd have no problem whipping one up that looks waaaay better

The tube work is all Rocksolo (thanks Wade!) the bumper looks much better with an axle and wheels under it, hopefully it will look that way soon. Getting the interior finished up and then moving onto making my own links! Thanks guys!

It's lexan, the interior is all styrene and metal. Thanks for the compliments guys, it means a lot that people enjoy my build when there are so many cool projects on here.

If you use the axial 30 degree bent links for the bottom rear and cut them and re thread them and just use straight ones for the top . Thats what I would do. but you should put the body on when you are doing links just so you get the whole picture for what it will look like and the wheel base will be what looks right for the truck or how it makes you feel sort of like a bottle of wine and back rub if you know what I mean |

I can throw a pic up of the body on but I think it looks worse, lol. Gonna shorten the links up tonight. Have to have this ready for Sunday. My new axial chubs, lockouts and high steer knuckles are waiting to be picked up at my lhs, so there will be updates by Friday.

Got my links fixed, and about half my electronics sorted out. Next hurdle is finishing up the interior, but need to decide where the battery is going to be placed first. Anyway, some update "Project FJ-X" porn: Thanks for looking, and as i'm still new to this, constructive criticism is always welcomed. -bryan |

looks good, but the bumper needs to go. have your chassis builder/buddy to fab you one up. my personal opinion, a plastic bumper on a custom tuber/chassis is just.....well.......i'll keep that comment to myself. build looks good other wise though, just my $0.02 |

The front bumper being plastic if strictly for replacability. It may get changed around but honestly I do t see myself using this rig very much. For me it's more about the build. My scx10 has been and will continue to be my go to 1.9. This is just for fun.
