Range Rover Classic build Waiting for the Montero to get out of the body shop, lol, and with the sale of my Brat and some spare parts I had around I thought I'd build this too. I got this lexan body in trade for a cooler and some other scale parts I made. It came painted already and I'll probably sand it and respray it. I've always liked the range rover classics but not a fan of the lexan bodies. I have it so I'll use it. I'll add some details to it though. It'll be another weekend warrior off-roader. Idea was to use the cc-01 chassis but even for this I think I'll go custom chassis, TLT axles, etc...might also do losi mrc axles. still undecided though. I know, the pajero should be IFS and this should be solid front axle...but the world isnt perfect, lol... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4016.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4015.jpg planning a full interior http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4025.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4024.jpg going to detail the body a bit... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4026.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...assic/0004.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...assic/0001.jpg |
This one is going to be sweet!! A little inspiration maybe? Although a 4 door, here is my dad's 91 RRC Great Divide County. http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...dRoverNEW1.jpg |
NICE! I was thinking white too..."thumbsup" |
That interior looks sweet in there..the JK tub by chance? I'll be watching this one too lol"thumbsup" |
Sweet! I never knew there was a RR Classic body for R/C. I've gotta get one- any idea where to find one? I collect 1:1 Rovers- If you need detail pics of anything on one, I can take pics of anything you need. This is one of mine- a Great Divide limited edition in Score livery: http://www.muddyoval.com/images/score%20rangie54.jpg |
i'm liking it."thumbsup" the jk tube nice idea. |
yep, the JK tub interior fits a little snug but if I take off 1/8" o so of teh width it will fit fine. same for the pajero body as I had to do that for the montero I am building. Quote:
the body came from New Zealand, from someone or some company named Frewer. I dont know anything about it but it might have been a limited run by an individual... |
got a bit done tonight but I think it was for nothing... got 1/2" tube steel, put it in a vise added some heat and bent away... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4054.jpg shaped it to fit the interior http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4053.jpg located the axial transfer case so it would tuck into the backs of the seats http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4052.jpg left a bit on the front in case I want to attach a bumper to it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4056.jpg and then noticed this. this is why you make a hard cardboard template first to test it... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_4055.jpg ugh.:x |
That sucks, stupid steel...:x |
Fixed the chassis length by cutting and rebrazing it back together. last night my ADD kicked in... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...assic/0009.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...assic/0010.jpg Its a start and I'm pretty happy with it. Next is cutting the headlights out and adding some layers of solid around the headlight area so the grill looks deeper. Then think about front bumper. Or maybe go to the bodywork... I decided I'm going to run MRC axles and drivetrain on this. |
chipping away at it (and the other builds, lol). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ssic/00051.jpg |
Looks nice Pablo. Keep it up."thumbsup" |
Thanks. Sold the Pajero and MRC on the way. This will get MRC axles. Until then more body detailing (interspersed with hybrid tire making, lol). painted grill. clear lenses and buckets on the way. will paint side markers after body painted. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...assic/0007.jpg massaged the bumper a bit and added some detail http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...assic/0006.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...assic/0005.jpg Added a bit of detail to the exterior of the lexan shell http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0001-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0002-2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0003-1.jpg More detail after paint (wipers, etc). Also reinforced the interior a bit so it wouldn't be so flexy and to add a bit of weight down low. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0004-1.jpg white body paint tomorrow. |
Definitely a step down on quality as per usual standards but it will due. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0009-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0010-1.jpg |
These bodies are still being made here in New Zealand and are 49.95NZD plus shipping, my local hobby shop will be getting 3 in stock so if anyone wants one let me know. Apaarently they are sold worldwide, but this is only the 2nd one I have ever seen, so ask your local hobby shop they may just have one collecting dust out the back. Nice build by the way Pablo, but then again your builds are always kool "thumbsup""thumbsup" Quote:

its coming along nicely. glad to see it getting the treatment it so rightfully needed. "thumbsup" |
It looks good,i like the detailing . Pantablo , what do you use to glue the styrine to the lexan?. Ive tried shoo glue ,and it seems to melt thin styrine!:-( thanks. |
thanks guys. Quote:
I noticed that too though, so I am trying to use it sparingly on thinner peices and more on thicker peices. I'm also using it to glue styrene to the lexan as a mounting point so I then use plastruct bondene to bond styrene to that mounting point styrene. make sense? I don't know how it will hold up though. thanks. got the rear mounted up. did a little panel line work. its going to be alright but will need some tube work. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0006-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0004-2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0003-2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sic/0001-2.jpg |
Cheers for that ,so im not the only one to have that problem with shoe goo. Another question? what length is the wheelbase? thanks again. . Quote:
|
wheelbase measures in at just a hair over 10". MRC kit arrived today. axles are a tad narrow for this but will look stock if left as is. 5mm wideners would be perfect. |
