Default Barnyard Buster 5.0: yet another rebuild

Time to step up the game on one of the OG scale rigs.

First, don't worry, the Disco Fever body is here to stay. But I gotta bring the rest of the rig up to '09 standards.

First, I embiggened my CAC slot mags (TLT wheel mod) and cut down some 2.2 Crushers. Then, started on a proper interior. The seat and door panels are made from O gauge roofing material. Kinda gives it a Tijuana-upholstery-shop look. Added a CB radio and put the driver's right leg back on.

The bikini top was looking a little tatty, so I whipped up a styrene hardtop (still in progress, but you get the idea. Probably do a roof rack for it, too. And because the rear body clips will be inside, I had to make the rear hatch open. And you gotta have a latch, right?

Gave the dash a little update, and it's not done yet either. But overall it ain't bad for a 4-year-old rig.

Buster's like disco. It might go away for a while, but only til it comes back

Got some more done: Brass roof rack, Rubicon fender flares, crossbar and vertical tubes for the molded-in cage, glass in the windows.

With the hardtop and flares on, I'm thinking it won't be long before someone converts one of these Broncos into a Cherokee

Got a little more done today:

Quick shot of flat black finishes off the rack

Added a Savage bumper out back. I briefly toyed with the idea of brazing up some new bumpers, but the Savvy bumper has been on the front since day one, and I do like to have some continuity (even though the original axles, wheels and body have been tossed aside). I'm still not sure about the tow rings.

A couple short sections of L-channel sandwiched between the rails and crossmember make a nice sturdy mount. Also notice the exhaust; I don't know how long it will last, but it's on there for now.

Looks good Stu! How'd you make that muffler? I need to do something like that for the Scout.

You bringing Buster to Montana again?

I don't even know if I'm bringing me to Montana again.

The muffler is an old model-car piece I've had for ages.

Looks crazy, but it works and manages to avoid all the links.
