Default Jeep YJ Sahara Edition

Well I dont need to build another truck, but when I saw that tamiya was putting out the yj body again I just had to build one. Going to be for of a trail truck then a crawler but it should give the other rigs around here a run for there money. Here are the pics Im going off for the Sahara Edition, other than I will maybe to a black top instead of the tan.

The frame has been scaled down off a real YJ frame and CNC cut from 1/4" aluminum and then bent. This was made by a friend of mine along with the skid. The tranny will be a axial since space is at a premium.

For axles I went with TLT's for there width and toughness. The leafs were custom made by FISHFEVER and they are awsome Thanks a lot man! Tires I went for some RC4wd Mud Thrashers from there size and there so sticky. Wheels are a set of Axail 1.9 silver beadlocks.

Body of course is the new Tamiya Wrangler YJ with all the parts.

Im going to try and keep this truck as scale as possible other than it looking like its had a 3 inch lift. Couple mock up shots

Update time. Got the rear suspension in. Should have the front in, in a few hours as well.

Well its a roller now. It sits level and is pretty square. Flex wise there is only about 1.5" so far with the weight of just the chassis and tranny and a little help from me Ride height is pretty much perfect and the wb came up a 1/16 short but its fine. The leafs are really stiff right now but after it done and running I can start to soften them up by cutting down the helper spring. Onto the pics.

Very nice build so far. Nice that we all don't have to pay $400 anymore for one of these bodies. Axial wheels look perfect. For a YJ it is nice, lol.

Coming along nicely!!! I the Mud Thrashers and Jeep YJ's should just go ahead and get married They just compliment each other so well. I was a huge fan of Prowlers on jeeps and still am, but something about the MT's... Great work man!

I agree, the tires look right at home on a YJ body.
