| Do a search first, it's a matter of personal taste. some like to build kits some build from scratch, also there is no need to post the same question in 3 different places |

| Like he said, depends on taste, and also do you want your version of what scale is...or some one elses. If you want your version, go and get your own parts and make it yours. If you want someone elses, get a scx..either way your going to have a sweet ride and have fun... either one is cool in my book...but I'm not the author.. |

| The SCX is essentially an AX10 setup with an X-Trail conversion. Figure out if you want to source the parts seperately or just build an all in one kit. If thats what you've narrowed your search down to, run some numbers and which is priced best for you. They're gonna look and perfom similar since they use the same componants. |

also the scx comes with more scale 1.9 wheels and those cool 1.9 flatiron tires. The SCX is a better overall value for the money IMO.

| I have both kits....IMO, The AX10 is a better overall kit than the SCX-10. For starters, the pivot balls for the links are metal in the AX kit, but plastic in the SCX. Also, the trans spur gear shaft doesn't have the flats on it to install the spur without the slipper. Even though the spur mount is included. You can lock the slipper by drilling the plates and using longer screws, but I don't get why Axial made two different shafts for the same trans in the first place. I bought a T-6 (copy of X-trail) when I bought my AX-10, before the SCX-10 was introduced. It works very well. When the SCX came out...I bought it only to use for parts, as I had built my own frame that is much nicer and sold off the OG frame and misc parts. The SCX really isn't a very scale looking rig anyway, with it's 4 links and servo on the front axle.......a C-channel frame doesn't automatically make a rig a scaler. |

| Close enough in general terms. Similar chassis profile, similar suspension, same drive train configuration and componants. The SCX is basically Axial's factory evolution of the original TCS X-Trail conversion. Quote:

| SCX-10 gets my vote. It's a great performer and the channel frame gives it an edge in the scale looks. Did I mention the SCX-10 performs great? |

| If you don't have a truck already than the SCX is purpose built and comes with many nice parts. However if you want to be able to adjust your WB or already have a kit than that is what the X-Trail was designed for. The X-Trail is just a budget friendly conversion for the AX-10 |

| I have both an X-trail and an SCX. I love both for different reasons. Like some of the other guys have said, if you are starting from scratch go with the SCX, it's got everything you need in one box. If you already had an AX10, the X-trail is an inexpensive way to get more scale look and performance. Also the X-trail takes a lot of tuning to get the suspension to work well but when you do it is a great performer. Either way you'll end up with a scale rig that is a pretty competant crawler too. Good luck |

| If you don't all ready have a AX-10 to convret then don't buy one. Just get the SCX-10. With the X-trail you will need to buy extra shocks for a mor scale look as it has you run the stock AX-10 shocks in droop "not scale". |

| A slipper for a scaler is fine and preferred a lot of the time. The SCX comes with all steel yokes which are expensive to buy and the AX comes with plastic. I would still use the SCX frame over the x-trail if I was going to convert an AX into a scaler. Hand bros has a kit to mount the servo to the frame to look more scale or you can make your own using the stock servo plate or even make your own mount. The SCX kit is really nice and I really like the look and flex characteristics of the SCX channel frame. |

| Cool. Good job on the purchase. I don't get the point of buying an AX-10 and then getting the chassis conversion if your original plans were to make it a scaler anyway. If you're gonna go scale, then go scale. So anyway.... good job. |

id go with the scx-10 its great kit and it crawls really well it can keep up with my ax-10 on the trils but when it needs the more flex on the rocks like the ax-10 has it just not there but that makes it all the fun. i would like to have one myself. i have seen both crawl and they crawl pretty close compred to eachother but i am going to get an x-trail as i just retired my ax-10 from comp duty scince i just got the losi comp crawler Last edited by 2500hdon37s; 06-11-2009 at 11:15 AM.
