I have started a few more builds lately, figured id show ya'll what ive been working on.

So this is just getting going, basically gluing the big pieces together.
The hood scoop shaved off, and the roof patch smoothed in
Drop bed and new bed rails
after a bit of putty and sanding

i seriosly considered only building it as a regular bed truck, non dually, but i have been dying to build a dually for such a long time so that got the better of me. Ill probably start a team of ford builds after this one. i thinking ill be doing a bronco next and maybe a crew cab long box non dually. Thats if i dont get my hands on a highlift F350 to convert, id like that as a crewcab long box!!

bad ass body work. dualy pods look quite realistic

RANOVRU 04-17-2009 04:04 PM

Fantastic start. I'll be checking in on this for sure.

are those the wheels and tires from the tamiya rigs? they look really small and very scale for that body

cloddyman 04-17-2009 06:29 PM

they are the tamiya rims from the semi trucks, but the tires are off of a G wagon rc from the source, they have a lower profile and alot more detail in the tire itself.

im gonna try and get some chassis work done on it this weekend so you guys can see it sitting on the wheels.

cloddyman 04-17-2009 06:33 PM

oh and just to describe what went into the dually fenders, they started out as the stepside fenders from a marui big bear. cut the wheel arch out of the big bear fender and grafted in a blackfoot wheel arch so that they would match the actual truck. I then widened the fenders 3/8's of an inch to make them the right size, basically just a bit wider than a tire itself.

all in all, about 4 hours for each fender. thats not including putty and sanding.

romulus22 04-18-2009 10:57 AM

do you have a link to where i could get some of those tires

marmech 04-18-2009 12:27 PM

Looking good cloddyman. I too ended up using those tires for a project. Bringing this next to the war in the woods?

cloddyman 04-18-2009 12:34 PM

to get the tires you would have to buy the entire radioshack/source RC G Wagon. I paid 19.99 for the G wagon itself, and did a complete build on it, and the tires were leftovers. Luck should have it that they fit on the tamiya semi rims.

This is what i did with the G wagon itself.

Marmech - i might bring the body to the war in the woods for everyone to check out, im hoping i might get the chassis together through the week, maybe have a roller by then.

romulus22 04-18-2009 02:52 PM

thanks for the info. i might just have to put u a want add. ive seen plenty of those bodies in builds so maybe i can get some. looking forward to seeing more of this build
