| Simple SCX Scout build
This isn't going to be much of a build thread because everyone's seen a SCX10 build, so I'll just post a few pics of the build. I'm basing this build roughly on an old Chevy Chevelle my father had. Unfortunately the only pic of the car that I have doesn't do any justice to the car. In the pic, the car looks brown (Crappy 1970s camera) but it was really a copper color. I've always liked that color, so I was off to the LHS for some Tamiya PS-14 paint. Here's the pic of the car. Yep, that's me and my twin brother, dig on the sweet 70s jackets. I really like what Axial has done with this kit, looks and preforms great right out of the box. The chassis. Throwing down some paint. (Yeah, there's a truck body under there.) Unfortunately I don't have the time (Or the skills of some of you guys) to do a lot of custom building, so a lot of the stuff is just off the shelf. Some stuff to make some bungees. Do you thing I have enough? I cut the chassis back a little to help tuck the front bumper in some. I also had to trim the bumper to keep the tires from rubbing at full flex. The body with the most of the paint done. I did want to add a few details into the build, so I added some Highlift rollbar lights. (No LEDs in them yet) One of the things I remember about my dad's car, is that it had these cool Thrush muffler stickers in the back windows, so I wanted to incorporate them into the build. Paint for some hand painted details. Hand painted Photo etched Scout emblem. My Dad's car had simple all black wheels, so just some flat black for these wheels, with hand painted lockers. A few scale accessories. I"ll be posting some outdoors pics tomorrow. Last edited by Stburr91; 08-02-2009 at 07:33 AM. |

Thanks guys, I really like that color myself. I've noticed that the copper paint can look anything from copper to orange to reddish at times. Here's some pics of the new Scout out for a little test run on the trails and creek beds. |
