| Robbob's Fundra Tundra *Cab Carnage Redo*
Well the Tundras are starting to pop up here and theres some great builds with them so its a good time to post up one I been working on. I started this one a bit before I sold Big Tex but it was more of a parts/idea buildup and finally got it going about a month ago now. Heres the plan ....... Tamiya Tundra Cab + rear tube work (Thanks SemiJoe) Axial SCX frame kit (Thanks TCS) Big Wire 35T brushed motor (7T is the goal for the build though) HPI GR unit Axial Trans set up as divorced transfer case Axial Axles - OD/UD gears - MIP front axles - Straight rears with lock outs (Thanks RC Slot) Leaf spring suspension both axles (Thanks RPP) 3Racing winch - hooked up and functional Tekin FXR 1.9 wheels and tires To build a full scale appearance 1.9 Tundra with crawling/competition capabilities and when I want to open the trigger up she'll respond and move out quick. Ok so on with the pictures rear with tire carrier was gonna use a XXX-T tranny but outdrives are to big .... gonna switch it up with an Axial though. Front shock tower and motor plate will be remove able, I liked the style on Badd's Blazer. Battery will sit in the styrene frame with room to move it forward or backwards to help with rig balance. HPI GR unit mocked up Now the cab I wanted to do something different and aggressive looking, time to build up the fenders. center console (still work in progress) Dashboard - got plenty of gauges to put in and some toggles Rear fuel tank .... cant forget that ........ hhhmmmm hollow inside? still debating this one .... speaker box and ofcourse a steering wheel but whats with all those parts? hhmmmm extended compressed? and a small monetary switch? more to come on that one So I wasnt in the crazed to tube and cage the interior so i chose the easy way out .... styrene and we cant have our driver falling out so ofcourse we need doors I got some toys in for the axles and made some plates to accomodate the leafes to the Axial axles and fit the TLT Spread and so tonight I continue with the fun of wiring and setup ...... more to come later ........... Cut it there with some slow scroll saw action, tried the string trick but after an hour of cut cut cut break cut cut break i took the short route. got to hand it to those who can string cut, its definately a niche you guys have. but anyway just used some .25 x .040 strips to build it up. glued the first in place leaving an edge sticking out, then a strip on top of that one then a strip under the top next to the original. did 3 layers of that then just built skinny stock up against the body to help build the angle then filled it and sand. didnt have my camera available while i was doing it but i got 1 picture on my cell ill post up tonight. kind of gives the idea of my poor description Thanks Badd Quote:

Looking very good man. I like the bed & the interior cage. I like how it's all brazed on the frame. The SCX frame is a good way to save yourself some time. Hope to see it in person someday |

Got some done, wife took teh camera to work and forgot it so Ill have some more this weekend. Quote:
TOOT TOOT Yup, the wife started looking for doctors when I showed her my plans. Was gonna do some window etching but that got used :-P Quote:
Will have some more this weekend. Changed the dash, steering column and switches. After mounting the steering column in place it was to short, with a seat of any size the steering wheel would have been in your knees. I redid the entire dash and am waiting on more mini-toggle switches and 3mm leds to come in. Thanks for looking | |||
