There are so many great scratch builders on this site and on scale4x4 among other sites, but you my friend are one of THE BEST!!!! Way to raise the bar on a unique build. Very few could have pulled it off. Even fewer could have done it as well as you did. Paint looks awesome. Great work. Now finish it and start impressing with another build!!!

Black brought the cool but white just seems to be a better choice. |

It's common practice to cut the rotted out rockers from FJ55s and replace them with rock sliders, but there is no way in hell I am cutting anything off this body. So this is what I came up with. They will be painted black, of course. Also, I shaved down some Axial hubs and slapped them on. And one more just for giggles.

Those sliders are going to look sweet once you paint them! The hubs look good too! Glad you went with the white rims |

Wow, truly a great build. Love the FJ55 and its nice to see one come to life here. Now, wheres the video with the face melting music?!!? "We" used to call these the "ugly duckling"....Did I miss something with the "pig" reference, or is that east-coast vs. west-coast slang? CH |

How can an uncool person like me make cool things like this? The mysteries of life... Thanks x2 Mike! Thank you Aren't they beautiful? Quote:
Here is the rear bumper. 1/8" steel, which equals 1-1/8" in 1:9 scale. This thing is br00tal. My MAPP torch wasn't hot enough to braze this material so I had to pull out the MAPP/Oxygen setup, and that still took a fair amount of time to heat. I made some shackles from 3/16 cotter pins and a receiver out of some scrap brass. I'll be taking the minimalist approach on the front bumper as well. I will probably continue the square tubing to the rear. Like so...
