Holy crap... I totally forgot all about that!

I'm a fan of gold, but I agree with you on it not playing nice with the silver. can't have everything fighting for attention. Race rigs chassis' don't often get treated to fancy chassis paint jobs anyway, (exceptions of course) but a light protective coat (if anything) is easier to dispatch when repairs need to be made to the tube work etc... So something that replicates chromoly or just happily sits in the background would show off the panels best IMO ... Maybe even strip it, re-heat the welds to a nice colour and clear-coat the thing?

Regardless, super clean work, always liked this rig

Started mounting wheels and tires tonight, only got two done till I realized I only had one pair of 4.75 foams.. Ordered another set from CI just now.

Pitbull 1.9 growlers
Crawler innovation foams
Mayhem wheels
Locked up hardware

Can probably move this to the 1.9 section now, I think the old girl looks good on the smaller wheels.

You got me! Totally thought those were 2.2's. Looks great with the 1.9's!

The original tires on it were cut down, I never liked the ripsaws on it, and I couldn't see going bigger. I mocked it up one day on 1.9s and it was game over from there.

I needed an excuse to make a new 2.2 rig anyway

Started mocking up a narrow XR10 modded SSD axle, now that I know it will work I'll cut a pair of shafts down.

I knew the parts would.. It was the width I was worried about. I guess I didn't clarify

Shortened a set of XR universals so I could finish the front axle. Overdrive gears up front, Locked up hardware and I put the black knuckles on.

The mayhem hubs I had were meant for the original thick Axial hexes, so I trimmed a bit off the backside of the hub in the lathe. Was able to use my narrow hubs with the thinner SCX hexes that way. I think this is about as narrow as I can get on these wheels.

I am going to play with the links up front, that track bar is going to make life interesting.
