Default Bone's SCX10 Defender D90 Build

Hi all this is my first ever scale build. Its a Landrover defender D90 Based on an axial scx10.

Spec...

Dingo builders kit,
Alturn AA750MG high torque race servo,
Peter's D90 hardbody and snorkel,
Junfac SR02 matt black steal beadlock wheels x5,
Copy tyres from ebay,
Micro d shackles,
Custom alloy links with traxxas revo ball ends,
Custom made bumpers and wind screen shield,
etc...

Had to space the servo to clear the ball ends.

Trial fit...

Link lengths are (tube) front uppers 71mm, lowers 78mm, rear uppers 67mm and lowers 71mm. Thats using revo ball ends with the axial 4 link truss front and rear.

Servo now clears the cross member.

Made a start on the rock sliders/body mounts.

Started the rear bumper (alloy)

Sliders welded

Made some sliders and rear bumper mount

Rear bumper ready for paint

De chromed parts and sprayed matt black, sprayed sliders satin black.

Rear bumper finished.

Body mounts finished. Drilled and tapped the mounting holes and added some drainage holes. Sprayed satin black.

Made a battery mount, just needs paint.

Started rear storage for receiver etc

Couple of layout shots...

Parts...

Incredible build with great photos along the way.. how did you get the paint clear coat so nice? I have had nothing but trouble with clear coating from a spray can. Everything is tucked away nice and clean just how I think it should be!! Love it!

D90 came out looking really nice. My wife is wanting one of these so I'll definitely be referencing your build.

Cheers lads

As its my first rig I've nothing to compare it with but it's really great fun to drive and seems pretty planted. The wheels are heavy as is the bumper and body mounts. That with the battery position all helps.

It's going to get a proper session tomorrow so will update with a new vid soon.

well done man. looks like it came together rather quickly. i used an scx-10 frame on mine as well, but i also used a transfer case, along with some homemade shock hoops, panhard link in the front. and some other things, you should be able to find my build in here by searching for d90. love comparing like builds!
