Default New life for an old lid

Salvaged a cracked, beat on, Blackfoot body with no grill or tailgate from being tossed in the garbage can.

Not wanting a ditto truck I set out to make this another one-of-a-kind, set up for mud and abuse since my club is going to attempt a tough truck comp. I wanted to keep the basic truck looking like a Blackfoot, so here is my version

The willing donor

Just a little cutting and brazing then this emerged

It rolls

As it sits today, I have plenty more to do to it like bringing the front axle in a little but it is getting there

Still deciding if I like the spare placement

Axial axles (still need to get some alu upgrades for them)
1.9 RL's or Eritex wheels
WK trans w/metal gears
RC4WD shocks

I think the placment for the spare is spot on. I dont see anywhere else you could put it. Will you be running full lights and a winch?

What did you use on the tubework? It looks like some stainless plant stakes I used on a tube chassis before, the notches in it.

great truck man love the tube work, and i agree on the spare placement, maybe you could try to make a loop and bend down the ends and braze on a threaded rod or something

I like it

However, the stepside fenders look a little goofy with the dovetail. Replace them with flat panels maybe?

I think the flaresides look alright on it, myself. I personally think any pinched nose / dovetail truck looks goofy, and the fenders certainly fit in with that theme.

It's original, and for that reason I like the truck. Good work!
