Balln's jk

Well over some time now i have always wanted to build a jk and my girlfreind suprised me with a body so i started collecting parts for the build. Everything is here except for some small things that are more for detail.

I had some pics of me cutting the stock scx tr chassie in half to extend the frame rails and me welding them back up but i deleted them:evil: So everything is stripped down and im in the process of rebuilding now.

Specs:

New bright jk body
Axial scx frame that has been extended (thanks to lowslowTJ for parts)
Axial axles
Rc4wd tranny with disconnect for 2x4 & 4x4
1.9 rocklux
5 2.0 wheels (thanks to briansbodies)
integy 55 turn or hobbywing brushless system
proline power strokes
honcho links

Well on to the pics.

Well i cleaned up the frame really good and hung it up to paint. I have 8 coats of dark grey primer and let dry then went to spray some gloss black and it started to orange peel on me.

The links are durable even after i drilled the holes."thumbsup" I just got done hacking the finders off along with bumpers and running boards. Going to go out now and spray some more paint on the frame rails hopefully it will work since i wet sanded them then back to the body cleaning all my cuts up.

Not bad for a days worth of work!!!!

grob23 07-03-2010 11:23 PM

May I ask the significance of the skid cut in half? Seems a bit weird, jw...

I'll be watchin this build as well, if it's anything like your other Jeep build it should be good!

Thanks man but my chassie already had long ass honcho links and my wheel base was still short plus the stock axial rails are short under a jk body so i stretched it a little "thumbsup"

Well today was awsome i got alot done today and its going to slow down a bit due to body work and trying to mount the body to the chassie and fitting the trans under it with the servo to shift from 2x4 to 4x4.

Got some stuff done today not really alot but im happy with the progress. I thought it was going to be hard trying to mount the body to the chassie becuase the factory body post are inline with the frame rails and i haven't had to much luck with velcro and i want a nice stong mount and i think i came up with the perfect way with out any crazy fabbing. So far everything came from the extra parts that come with the axial kit.

Mounts for a servo

Stock axial body posts

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk29.jpg

They will be covered up from the mesh grill insert i plan on doing and the bumper.
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk30.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk31.jpg

I moved the crossmember forward and drilled holes in it to slide the posts through then just use body clips.
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk32.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk33.jpg

Had to trim some of the interior off and some of the shock post down but it fits perfect. Still have some cleaning up to do
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk34.jpg

Im pretty happy with this ride height.

run2jeepn 07-05-2010 10:56 PM

Liking the way you worked the front mounts.

Pointman 07-06-2010 09:41 AM

Keep an eye on those plastic links. When I had them on my crawler, they would bend on hard binds.
