Balln's jk Well over some time now i have always wanted to build a jk and my girlfreind suprised me with a body so i started collecting parts for the build. Everything is here except for some small things that are more for detail. I had some pics of me cutting the stock scx tr chassie in half to extend the frame rails and me welding them back up but i deleted them:evil: So everything is stripped down and im in the process of rebuilding now. Specs: New bright jk body Axial scx frame that has been extended (thanks to lowslowTJ for parts) Axial axles Rc4wd tranny with disconnect for 2x4 & 4x4 1.9 rocklux 5 2.0 wheels (thanks to briansbodies) integy 55 turn or hobbywing brushless system proline power strokes honcho links Well on to the pics. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk5.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk6.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk8.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk1.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk2.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk3.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk4.jpg More to come "thumbsup" |
Well i cleaned up the frame really good and hung it up to paint. I have 8 coats of dark grey primer and let dry then went to spray some gloss black and it started to orange peel on me. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk14.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...JEEP/rcjk9.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk10.jpg In the middle of waiting on coats of paint to dry i was doing this. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk11.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk13.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk12.jpg Well i guess its time to wet sand my damn rails and see if that will help:evil: |

Not bad for a days worth of work!!!! |
May I ask the significance of the skid cut in half? Seems a bit weird, jw... I'll be watchin this build as well, if it's anything like your other Jeep build it should be good! |

Well today was awsome i got alot done today and its going to slow down a bit due to body work and trying to mount the body to the chassie and fitting the trans under it with the servo to shift from 2x4 to 4x4. Pics "thumbsup" http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk18.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk16.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk15.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk27.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk26.jpg Chassie back together and rolling http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk23.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk24.jpg Not sure yet what im going to do about the tranny crossmember  http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk25.jpg Whipped out some bondo to fill in the bolt indents on the fenders http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk17.jpg Just a mock up not sure what ride height i want yet http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk19.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk20.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk21.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk22.jpg |
Got some stuff done today not really alot but im happy with the progress. I thought it was going to be hard trying to mount the body to the chassie becuase the factory body post are inline with the frame rails and i haven't had to much luck with velcro and i want a nice stong mount and i think i came up with the perfect way with out any crazy fabbing. So far everything came from the extra parts that come with the axial kit. Mounts for a servo http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk40.jpg Stock axial body posts http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk28.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk29.jpg They will be covered up from the mesh grill insert i plan on doing and the bumper. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk30.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk31.jpg I moved the crossmember forward and drilled holes in it to slide the posts through then just use body clips. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk32.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk33.jpg Had to trim some of the interior off and some of the shock post down but it fits perfect. Still have some cleaning up to do http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk34.jpg Im pretty happy with this ride height. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk35.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk36.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk37.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk38.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...EEP/rcjk39.jpg "thumbsup" What do you guys think so far ? |
Liking the way you worked the front mounts. |
Keep an eye on those plastic links. When I had them on my crawler, they would bend on hard binds. |
Looks good so far. |
Looking good so far. Did you mod your RX to center. Been thinking about switching to my DX6i but wonder how to set it up.. Thanks and I'll be watching this one.. |
