"Comeback" Jeep TJ build Well it has been a while since I completed a build of an RC rig. So I needed my comeback build and had a custom TJ chassis for a while and some loaded TLT axles. I had the NB Jeep TJ body so I started building a few weeks ago. Specs: Custom aluminum Jeep TJ chassis Locked and loaded smokin' TLT axles 1.9 HPI stockers to be modified RC4WD 1.9 Rock Crushes w/ modified lugs RC4WD R2 tranny Hi tech steering servo New Bright Jeep TJ body Custom Sliders by Bonards29 Sick a$$ custom cage by Bonards29 The rest will be added as I go. Here is the chassis set up. http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_2733.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_2728.jpg I am going to do the flat fender. http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...-xenon1254.jpg Maybe soft doors http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...half_doors.jpg |
Well Bonards29 and I worked out a trade deal for some parts and ca$h that I sent him and in return he built me these sick sliders and awesome cage for the TJ!!! He did a great job!!!! THANKS buddy! http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_3170.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_3168.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_3167.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_3169.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_3103.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_3104.jpg |
Body work prep http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0765.jpg Not for sale... http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0766.jpg My attempt at making "soft doors" made from fun foam from a craft store. The rough draft version. I will make a full set after my trial and errors are done... http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0767.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0768.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0774.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0769.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0770.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0771.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0772.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0773.jpg |

This looks awesome, gives me some idea for a build of my own some day.. |
That thing is cool. As soon as I find an scx10 chassis I'm gunna start one of these builds to crawl around with my honcho. |
The "Comeback" is looking very strong it has a good look and a sweet stance the narrower TLT axles help that. "thumbsup" |
Wow it looks great!! Where did you get the TJ frame? Looks to be an awsome build so far, keep it up "thumbsup" Thanks, Ben |
Thanks guys! Quote:
With the loaded TLT axles with cvd's, I wanted a 0 offset, 5 lug, beadlock. Well I went the cheapo route and made my own. Took too long to just make these two so I'm taking a break and I will make the other two plus the spare down the road. The angle of the picture makes the ring look a bit off but they are pretty dead on. http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0776.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0777.jpg |
this build is amazing! nice work! "thumbsup" |
No pics but an update anyway. Paint is on the cage/sliders/front/rear bumpers! I went with Tamiya light gunmetal. Paint on the jeep is drying. Flat black fenders and Tamiya brilliant blue. Pics tomorrow. |
A few update pics with paint. I still have to touch up the fenders with black. The cage paint looks light iin the pics but is much darker. http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0826.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0837.jpg |
this build has the making of a very nice finished build |
WOW! This thing is looking very nice!!!! Rear tire carrier just flows with it! Like this TJ, im still watching  |
Moving along... I mounted the body. Industrial velcro front and rear. I may change the front mount. I'll see how it holds up to some hard wheeling. Mounted the front bumper with winch, and the sliders. I hope to get the soft doors on today. http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0841.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0840.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0842.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0839.jpg http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...J/IMG_0838.jpg |
