1.9 Chevy tuber, Trail beast!

Hey guys, figured I'd post some pics of my current trail truck. Its not done yet but I'm driving it while building it.

Axial trail Chassis with hangers welded on(it was rear leaf springs and front coils but I FLEW through leafs, one trail session and they would be flat, twisted, and sagged hard)

Built tlt axles with cvds, hard gears, sealed bearings, steel axle c's, alum hubs, etc etc.

Custom links with proline trail shocks.

Axial trans with traxxas hardened outputs and stampede driveshafts

Custom motor creation using some holmes hobbies motor spares and a jp customs armature. Rooster Crawler on 3s lipo and a tactic 2.4ghz radio

Custom 4 link truss up front, My own version of a handbros servo on chassis setup. Using a traxxas waterproof servo.

RC4wd 1.9 tires and rims

The body is a Tamiya Clod body. I made a drop bed, dove tailed it, and narrowed the front aswell.

I was impressed with this truck Matt. Pretty simple, straightforward build but it works really well. Pretty tough too, I can't believe you haven't cracked that body yet!

Your experience with the leaf springs has convinced me to rethink running them on my 1.9 build...

Nice setup. I like the body, it really sets it apart from the crowd.

Thanks Chris, yea its simple but works very well...

yea leafs are not for me, First I mangled rc4wd soft leafs, then those heavy duty ones I bought off of you. Honestly I got 1 pack out of each set of leafs. bought an hour and half of run time.

I decided to change the truck up a little bit, really wanted a truggy style deal. It is far from done but I need to get it driveable for our next trail session next weekend!!!

lsone 10-24-2010 09:09 PM

sooooo change of plans hahah. My friend decided to tackle the task of doing a brakeline tuber so I joined on the fun. Here is what I have so far. I have always wanted something that would take a ton of abuse(roll it down the side of a very large hill and drive away from it with no broken parts haha).

lsone 10-25-2010 09:47 PM

I added a couple diagonals for off the rear hoop to the floor, then I also started on the rear end of the chassis. I like the idea/design so far so I think I am going to roll with it :)

They will be back on, dont you worry!!!

ecoli 10-27-2010 09:16 AM

Ha! Now you have to do an interior Matt :D!

The tubework looks good. This truck was already tough, it'll be invincible with the tubework now.
