Default 1973 Bronco

I bought this MRC a while ago and since I don't drive comp, I had an extra MRC to play with. Well, it was time for a Ford.

Here's where I started.

I made the chassis out of 1/2" square steel. I used a map torch and vice to bend it to shape.

Got the front suspension mocked up after that.

The axles were actually too narrow for this body, so I had to order some wideners from RC4WD.

Ground down stocker on right.

Now it looks like a disc brake!

Also needed to get some longer bolts.

Getting there.

I mounted the tranny, redesigned and assembled the front suspension, modified and assembled rear suspension, and mounted the body. I ordered a new motor and some drive shafts for it as well.

Painted the body with custom Faskolor mixes and an airbrush. Painted the chassis black.

I made these simple bumpers, but I really hated them. The rear swing assembly was very flimsy, but I liked the body clip integration design. The front bumper is from an old Clodbuster body, trimmed to fit a 3Racing winch.

Took it out for a test drive and it performed flawlessly.

Received the winch and mocked it up.

After cutting away half the bumper, I got it to fit nice and snug.

Mounted.

With decals. The bumper will also need some cosmetic work.

After a few months of abuse, it has withstood quite well considering what it is. I hope to have an interior built for it someday and a better rear bumper, but it's still fun to drive.

Very nice, a pretty true to scale "old school" Bronco. I think your bumpers along with the color comb. is what alot of the 1:1s looked like back in the day. Simple but able to get the job done.

Hey Blazer..very cool build, glad you picked up a Ford...What adapters did you pick up from RC4WD..are they for the 1.5 rims with hexes?? I'm doing the same thing and asked them if they would fit on the 1.9 rims, and they said no.

just wondering.

This is in the 1.9 sub-forum so the rims are 1.9" and the tires are RC4WD Dirt Grabbers

http://store.rc4wd.com/Dirt-Grabber-...res_p_216.html
http://store.rc4wd.com/OEM-Steel-19-...tion_p_76.html

Check RC4WD out and see what else they have. They have great wheels and tires, and many of the vendors on this site, like TCS and RPPhobby sell them.

I really like these tires both for their appearance and performance. They work rather well for a scale tire.

It's a good quality body with nice detail. The square shape gives it most of its strength. It's just the right thickness, it's not to thin where it would rip and crease and it's not to thick where it could crack. One would have a difficult time damaging this one.

I threaded the antenna through an antenna tube and glued it onto the frame rail.

The one's I bought were made specifically as 1.9 replacement hubs. Cheap and easy!

Ahh cool, how thick are they and how much do they add to the width...I'm using the same tire as you..i.e. whats the width from out to out of your axles?
