Default Project: BOGGER

We have this area we pass each weekend when we go scaling. Its a small inlet of water and the bank get very muddy. Well some of us can't help but stop and play in the stuff even though we almost always get stuck and end up wading out to retrieve our trucks.....so I am going to build a custom scaler built just for taming this mud hole!
Lots of wheel speed, high ground clearance, and tall mud tires are the requirements for this project.

I bought this set of chassis rails for this Project build, I came across an extra set of venom axles and tranny and didn't really want to spend a small fortune on an Axial frame set....and I have the tools and capabilities to put this thing together and didn't want a bolt together chassis.

The frame rails did require a bit of "touch up" work to clean them up but overall are a great buy at $20. They are a bit heavier than the Axial rails...here's a shot of the bare rails and axle lay-out

and a shot of the chassis with the cross members, shock mounts, and four link mounts brazed in and ready to mount up with the axles, links, and drive shafts

with all the links with metal ball ends mounted, drive shafts mounted, and rear lock outs mounted

needed something to put under all four corners....so ordered these up, the tallest 1.9 tire on the market

and finally a shot with all the basics mounted up. This thing is going to be a BEAST with a wheelbase of 13.5 inches

Overhead shot of the four link suspension front and rear, everything nice and centered, the frame came out strong and square

This build is not yet complete, but is now a running chassis....so stay tuned for updates as the body and cage come together

Parts list so far:

Chassis Rails / Northwest Scale Design/Custom Built
Drive Shafts / MIP
Lower Truss Links / Dynamite
Upper Links / Custom Built
Metal Ball Ends/ RC4WD
Shocks:stock 90mm / Axial
Shock Springs:RC18T / Associated

Rear Axle Lock Outs / Hot Racing
Motor:27T / Axial
ESC / Axial
Receiver / Spektrum
Radio Transmitter / Spektrum
Servo:HS645MG / Hitec

Wheels:1.9 / Axial

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Not sure yet what skin it will get, still have some work to do on the chassis.
I think I am going to put the batteries in saddle formation on top of the sliders to keep the weight lower.

haha, since there are no viable dodges other than the expensive ramcharger available (hehe!) the 80s chevy truck lid would rule on this! great build so far.

So some major progress has been made on this project since the last post.

Body primed and trimmed. (I decided to go JK on this build because of the wheelbase)

Body mounted (No screws, No body posts, No velcro)

Sliders fabbed up and installed

Battery mount fabbed up and installed

Electronics mounted (it's now officially a runner)

Work yet to do..............

Fab and mount front bumper

Remove stock rear bumper

Fab and install rear bumper

Paint the final color on the body and detail (don't have a color picked yet)

Paint, detail, and install the interior

Install LED light system

Install winch
