Do-It-Yourself CC01

Pics to be posted later tonight...

Chopped down SCX10 chassis
TLT rear axle
Slash 4x4 Front (unlocked) Diff, bulkhead, and diff housing
RC4WD R2 Trans
TLT Shocks?
Slash Links?

Again, pics will be up later... As, they will help better explain what I've done to get this to work so far...

Modified the chassis to accept a Slash 4x4's front bulkhead and differential, will also help me with the steering later on as the bulkhead supplies steering posts.

The TLT rear axle I'm a little iffy on, as I am not sure matching the width on the front suspension to the narrow TLT is going to work like I want... Not sure if they make a-arms that small xD

So, worse case, I'll switch to my tried and true Axial axles currently relegated to the wrecker build, and let the wrecker get the massive TLTs.

Center skidplate will be a stock Axial SCX10 number, drilled to take the R2. Driveshafts are Traxxas halfshafts with steel yokes, on the shorter wheelbase, they should be more than enough.

Pics later... Is actually coming along nicely.

Things needed down the road:

Tamiya Isuzu Mu Body or RadioShack Red Shaker body (same thing)
1.9 or 1.55 rims and tires, not sure yet

Everything else I can manage for right now... Need bearings for the front diff, bought it all new. A-arms will need to be hunted down once I get my desired width and wheelbase set in, and that will determine front driveshaft lengths, etc.

Sounds like a challenge good luck to ya.

Before you get too far in, the 1/16 slash parts might work better. I've heard the 1/10 slash is way too wide, excellent idea though.

Brazed on these little U brackets to support the Slash bulkhead. Will use the same steering setup as intended for the 4x4 Slash.

As mentioned, cut down chassis... Gotta talk to a friend of mine to get it tack-welded back together... My brazing skills suck for this kinda thing...

Where does the CC-01 chassis come into play????

Oddman102 12-21-2010 11:14 AM

This is my chassis... It isn't an actual CC01, but is my own build based off of one

Maybe I'm out of the loop here, but do the gears from the front end of a 4x4 Slash match the gearing in the TLT axle?

Oddman102 12-21-2010 02:12 PM

Hmm... Hadn't thought of that... I will investigate
