Nitromtcrawler's Tube Shark buggy in KOH outfit! Well guys I'm here again, most of you probably don't know me or even knew I left :ror: so here is a little back story on my rig... I got these axles and wheels from my brother about a year and a half ago and they sat gathering dust because I am too broke to buy a body for the "buil". I decided to just build a tuber/scaler, its free and looks cool. The budget for this build is 0$ I built this with what ever I had laying around at home. Enough talk here are the specs. 1.)Axial axles completely stock. 2.)MRC wheels and Proline Flat Irons. 3.)Axial tranny with steel pede yokes and pede shafts. 4.)TLT shocks that I will turn down sooner or later. 5.)Roof lights are from a 1970's RC10b I actually had four from two different ones. 6.)A bunch of 3/16 brake line donated by my brother. 7.)Airtronics 2ch radio with micro receiver. What I don't have yet is a servo for the steering and a battery. I know a lot of you are familiar with XRRA and KOH this buggy is based off of JT Taylors Tube Shark Buggy in the KOH outfit. The tire carrier and lights are removable to turn it into the XRRA outfit. Well here are the pictures. http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r76/mcrende/141.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture026.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...3_i8tMd-X2.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture017.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture019.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture020.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture028.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture032.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture033.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture025.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture022.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture021.jpg And the flex.... http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture034.jpg Thanks for looking! |

looks great! good job! Too bad it doesn't fit within any of the SORRCA classes, but that only matters if your local club uses them or if you plan to compete nationally. I think the two face tires would set it off, the 1.9 is 4.5" tall, which is just barely more than 1/4" taller, and I think would fit the size of the vehicle just fine. That's $50 more than you have spent so far on the build though. Did you put ABS rings in the tires to make these a true beadlock? Home Depot has short sections of 2" ABS pipe for a couple bucks and you can make your own. Really, for being a "built with parts I had lying around" build it looks great. |

Thank you for the inspiring words. I'm no longer interested in competing in my local groups for personal reasons, so it being "illegal" doesn't really upset me. I agree the tires would be an improvement, but I'm trying to "build with what I have" so until some 2 faced tires show up in my toolbox they will stay this way.:ror: I have yet to do the mod to the wheels, its actually such an old mod I had forgotten about it. I cant believe I been here since 06 so much has changed. Thank you I tried to make it look like it was not made with left overs. I have so much more planned for this rig that this is only the beginning, fabbing is free and easy so it will have tons of custom made details. |

Sort of a moot point since you don't plan to comp, but I was thinking that it doesn't fit in class 3 because it looks like your chassis is too small for the dimensions for the class. It looks like your chassis is shorter than your wheelbase, the tire carrier isn't included in the measurement of the chassis length, and is removable. Also, it's hard to tell from a pic, but what is the height from the bottom of the skid to the highest point of the frame, not including the light bar? It doesn't look like 5", but that's just a guess. Also it looks like the width might be a little narrow too (measurement at the front of the "door panel" and the rear of the "door panel") And, lastly, you would need to find a way to hide the transmission (and anything you throw in there) since it's an "open cab" As you said though, this is not intended to be a Scale Comp capable rig, and honestly doesn't matter. It looks cool, and was done with parts you had lying around. I love that you did the rear tire carrier removable, was that just collets brazed to the frame? |
