Gear click fix

Sloppy stock shaft.

After shiming with a filed chunk.

Jim used the wasted chunk of a ziptie to shim the gearbox. Tamiya has .020 of slop in the bearing bore gear case halfs.

Drop of Ca

Firmly bolted down.

Ready for moab

You won't belive how much more capable the truck is with the new gear ratio and tires easily a 60% increase in rock performance.

Rick came over and we threw a spare on the roof.

Sorry for the lack of Jim in the updates, just short on time.

Sad to say, but things like this (things that make me smile) are the only thing keeping me going. Tuesday night my apartment caught on fire (three ajoining units, smoke damage for me) but the damage to the rest of the building is so bad that I have to find a new home... I did get all the parts to put together my CC01, so I hopefully can build while we look for a new place. Thanks for the entertainment.

I've got the tires sitting here in the shop. Cherokees need a lot of lift to clear 35"s though. Looks like a Icelantic truck with the doctors on it. Already picked up some more supplies for the next update.

Video coming later tonight.

I gotta build me one of these. It just looks like a blast to drive. I have the chassis, wheels and radio gear. I just need to find one of those bodies (or something similar - 4Runner perhaps). Anybody have one they want to get rid of?

This thread just gets better and better.

Awesome build! I remember reading this last year when I was working on my Nylint build. I have decided to build a crawler with tlt axles. This thread has made me decide to do it as a scale build. Keep the updates coming. Can't wait for more.
