jmike's Rig Rocket F350 Dually (coming soon) Well I'm pulling the pin and building a scaler after I have seen all of the beautiful builds out there, some true craftsmen I must say. I'm wanted something you can put some time into creating vs merely assembling, bashing, breaking, repairing, repeating. Once I saw this build ( http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44302 ) I was sold on what I wanted to make my scaler into. The short list :lmao: Chassis: SCX10 Frame Set SCX10 Honcho Rock Sliders Custom Stainless Links w/ Revo Rod Ends by Mikeybikey RC4WD The Ultimate Scale Shocks 110mm x4 RC4WD Aluminum 1/10 Winch Line Fairlead Electronics: Axial 27t (for now..) Putting in the order pretty soon! |
seems like its goin to be awesome |
Nice parts line up, I'm sold on the fender flares too I think they should be a requirment on the superduty's..lol I'll be watching yours as well hpe we can bounce some ideas bak and forth. Tyler |
Ya cringed at the $50 buck price tag on the flares but I think they will be worth it. I wanted to do a hard body too but I used to have a 2008 F350 and wanted to mimic that trucks front end style. I just was talking with our local club and we might be getting a pulling sled so I want to make this beast a mudder / puller. I think the summit tranny is going to come in very handy! Maybe a little of this to dive in there? http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...4&cat=2&page=1 http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=17&page=1 |
Some progress got a start on the bumpers, decided to go brass after some trial and tribulations trying to braize some aluminum bumpers. The brass should be stout tho! The sled deck is JB welded together, more to come next week http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5881.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5880.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5879.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5878.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5877.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5876.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5875.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5874.jpg |
Last progress until more parts arrive. There was no real way to make the dually flares look like an actual part of the body without using a little bit of body filler. I think I will paint the inside with a rust colour and the outside base coat a silver to show scratches . The main colour of the body will be white with black and orange accents. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5888.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5887.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5884.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5882.jpg |

Got a bunch of work done -Hacked an old smashed erevo chasis into a trans plate / 4 link upper mount -Installed the XVDs in the Trex60s and packed them full of Lucas Red n Tacky -Got the 4link plates made for the front and rear and swiped some links from the erevo parts bin -Mounted the winch on the bumpers and made the bumper mounts -Got the light buckets going in the body Looking at it now more built, I wish this was quad cab and the flairs were a little wider. Everything is loose on there but I think she might need some wide load placards :ror: It definitely will be a burly looking unit. Im going to have my work cut out to make the interior work. More pics to come this weekend (of the build too "thumbsup") http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k.../WP_000141.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k.../WP_000139.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k.../WP_000142.jpg |
Looking good Mike HURRY up and get that beast built so we can go out and um take it down the trail :lmao:I wanna see this thing in the mud good thing for the two speed tranny |
Well been a little busy on the build but have hit a few hicups making me take a step back to go two steps forward Once I found this Dinky RC Summit mount I decided to scrap my home made trans mount job, it was too high to allow the interior I have to work anyways  http://www.dinkyrc.com/product.sc?pr...4&categoryId=4 So the change will throw off the links I hooked up, so I also decided, while i'm making new links, that i didn't like the extended cab look and wanted to have a crew cab, so I hacked up another f350 body I had and inserted 1.5" of wheel base. I have some Erevo shafts made into my drive shafts so going longer will hold up fine and easy enough to switch. Also going for a set of these to hold the 4 links http://store.rc4wd.com/T-Rex-60-Axle...s-_p_1009.html The Proline G8 TSL are good but the memory foam makes them way soft for this 9+lbs'er. I am looking into crawler innovation foams or maybe cutting some stock LCC foams to fit the 1.9" rims Also being so heavy with the Velineon, Summit tranny and metal bumpers and mounts the single set of Ultimate scaler shocks is not enough to hold this beast, so I'm going to add a second set and make some custom mounts to hold them. I threw some undercarraige spray I got from the automotive store on the bumpers. Was supposed to be a tough coating and I was going for the rough flat look but the crap never dried nice and is still kinda sticky. So Im scrubbing that off and looking for other options :flipoff: Made up some other stuff including a light rack for the roof, light buckets for the head lights and added some fender flairs off a Dingo that I massaged round. Here are a few pics http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5898.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5901.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5895.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5896.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5905.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5909.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5913.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5924.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5925.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5928.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5927.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5929.jpg |

Finally it is done! Been a trial and a learning experience along the way but that's what its all about right? Got a few things to take care of still but it's alive. That velineon on 3s with the summit trans makes for some wheelie popping power but in the low gear actually rolls smooth and is managable.. As for weight it is over 12lbs (my scale maxxed out :ror:). Well here it is http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5940.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5932.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5942.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5943.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5946.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5948.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5949.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5952.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5958.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5959.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5961.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...7/IMG_5963.jpg |
