I think I'm going to remake that rear bumper to protect that a bit more...

so today is the day we start making some progress!

cut into the body one last time to get some flush mount door handles made.

I only did the front doors and the tail gate, left the back doors smooth.

Paint is drying, so i have this stuff to keep me busy for a bit..

Got to work installing those SSD housings while paint was drying.

They are drop in center like the ar60 housings and the tubes are once piece. They feel pretty beefy and the tolerances seem spot on.

STRC axle C's fit nice and tight, had to use a bit of pressure to get them on, but there is no slop at all.

The included 3 link (and 4 link) part is a nice piece, seems solid and mounts in three places

Took the opportunity to install some axial high steer knuckles I have had here and made some new steering links. I had minimal adjustments to make to my links over my previous setup. In fact my old hand bros mount used to cause clearance issues with the panhard rod in certain applications, this seemed to have more room. I think some Locked up scale hardware will really set that diff cover off.

The rear was pretty much a repeat of the front, except I used the 4 link top mount. Links for the axial 4 link dropped right in. I did take the time to dig through my links and replace the plastic lowers with some aluminum links while I had everything apart.

And I leave you with this for the night...

CI foams helped these tires get to the right shape too, love how they thinned out

Oh, I got paint on it too...

I really like the jam nuts on the steering links. They really add a nice scale touch.

Which one? Most of it was styrene and gap filling CA. I finished it with a two part automotive putty.

Both i guess. I have a cheap H3 body ive been tinkering with. I am fairly new to crawling and custom stuff. I don't know a whole lot about customization. And this build is awesome. Very informative. I am learning alot. Thank you so much for your time and info.

Well broke the windshield cleaning it. Then I broke the windshield out of the brand new spare body I have...

I decided to step away from it for the rest of the day.

Ok.. Solved that issue.. Made the top trim piece and a windshield channel outta styrene. Shot some black and popped a new windshield in there

Got the markers and the wipers back in, also wired up the winch. I want to make some new links and wire up the lights again.

First test run it in the back yard pile since the rebuild, the foams make a HUGE difference, so much more stable and the tires can actually use the compound now to grip instead of getting all wadded up.
