krawls tundy I will start this off by saying this is my first real venture into the scale world... I built this truck so i could run in the AZ shootout's G6 run as well as the axial west coast G6 event. there were only two criteria it had to have.....IT HAD TO WORK AND IT HAD TO LOOK GOOD DOING IT"thumbsup" i began with a pretty standard axial scaler i recieved from a genleman here on the board. it was full of the needed upgades to the axles and tranny, but it needed a little Y-Town flair. i began tearing it apart as soon as i recieved it and started bending up some solid rod into the creation below. i didn't get quite as many pics as i would have liked due to the extremly short timeframe i was working with so the first pics are with the majority of the rear cage done. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0636.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0635.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0631.jpg now, being used to the amount of steering my comp rigs had i just couldn't live with the stock setup. i ended up using some beef tubes to strengthen up the front housing and also let me use the xr knuckles and axles. i think this is a much more realistic looking axle and the steering is phenominal"thumbsup" you can also see the new panhard mount that has been pushed foward slightly. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0632.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0633.jpg now that the cage work and drivetrain were complete i moved on to some styrene work:shock: again this was my first attempt so take it easy on me.:ror: rear of the cab had to filled in and i also decided a fuel cell was in order. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0648.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0646.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0647.jpg i needed to figure out a grill so i fired up the cnc and cut out this. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0645.jpg with the light buckets http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0649.jpg i had to make up some "scale items" including expanded mesh i cut out of delrin. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0639.jpg painted up and ready for some G6 action http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0652.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0654.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...y/IMAG0655.jpg |
That is some great work I love all the details. |
Great idea with the build, looks like its going to be a very capable scaler |
"I just fired up the cnc"? Just so you know, you suck:ror: Does that mean we'll be seeing some scale Y-town parts? |
