You could make alot of money if you decided to start selling those trusses. imo They look amazing!

The mounts are angled to address the angle of the links hopefully an improvement over the stock/horizontal orientation of the stock truss. The angled orientation gives these robust RPS links plenty of clearance. The top/center of the link mount will be drilled and tapped later for a center mounted limit strap.

Axle is so much cleaner looking without that chunky plastic truss. The new mounts should blend right in once powedercoated black. Now to do something about that biomechanical looking diff cover:)

Yes please, put me down to buy a hydro steering system :p

Nice work all around!

First off let me say WOW! I really hope the Hydro steering setup works out cause it looks KICK ASS! With the parts that I make I so appreciate this build with all of the little pieces that you are making. Its great to see others playing with CNC's in the hobby.

I do have to ask though, do ya think that you might need some support for the passenger side of the upper link mount . Maybe a strap around the tube?

Wow, such detail, that thing is gonna be incredible. Are those made to allow the stock truss to go back on? Looks like it might fit.

Nope - I hate those stock trusses:)

How much for a hydro steering system?

Too expensive right now since the machining is all done manually "thumbsup"

What tires are those?

I believe they are RC4WD Gauntlets

Thanks! All the machining is actually done manually no CNC, not even a power feed. Im not a machinist by trade just teaching/learning machining on my own.

I considered the strap idea for a while but a strap/clamp around the axle tube would eat up too much of the ground clearance so I chucked that idea. Plus a dangling piece of aluminum is just asking to get snagged on rocks. I'm in now way speaking from experience, since I never ran my Wraith and cannibalized it from the get go just for these axles - but the area in question seems to be one of the strongest places on the axles. The 2 through bolts run through thick solid plastic - would probably come close to stripping the threads in the aluminum before the surrounding plastic would deform or deflect. But again only time will tell - it may be the first thing to fail but my bet is on the hydro system:)

Speaking of hydro - a key component of the master arrived today! Over 600oz-in. of oil squeezing goodness. I hope to double that at the axles!

The worst thing about this build is I got linked today, have read thru 11 pages of awesomeness, get to the end, and I want more and now have to wait in real-time.

Hurry up and finish this, eh?

As is - 430mm. May adjust down the road.

Lol wish I had a time machine - I want to drive this thing!

A quick vid. Its totally under its own power now. I'm controlling the system via my radio. Its using mineral oil for now, feels as though it needs an even lighter viscosity. The good news is power is phenomenal and NO LEAKS:)

Re: MONGO - built specifically to steal exotic cars off a speeding train

Drive shafts - I really wanted to use some MIP's ive had laying around but I just cant get over their rounded look. So went with with some Traxxas ones. I chopped two and a half pairs and sleeved it with some stainless steel. The Traxxas shafts are arbor pressed into place then some set screws for added security. I dont have a lead foot so I hope they hold up.

Once the stainless shafts are painted black they should look legit

http://gallery.me.com/prifral/100165...13294471760001
Still waiting for some wheels so I threw on some others I found in the parts bin so I could steal a Wraith... well not quite gotta wire up the esc first then its off to a test drive! The paper towel under the front of the Wraith is hiding the rest of the hydro setup - some people have expressed interest in running with the design so I have to conceal it for them.
http://gallery.me.com/prifral/100165...13294473150001
If the test drive goes smoothly its back to brazing and cab work - good thing cuz I need a break from machining:)

Mongo's first spin. In my haste to get everything together before sunset I forgot to check the Tx lipo and it quit after 5 mins:lmao:

I was elated at how strong the holding power of the hydro steer is. Being so used to a servo setup that deflects/binds on obstacles, the hydro steer holds any position absolutely no matter the terrain/force acting on the front tires. Being such an awkward dimension (tall & long) it was so much fun to drive for the 5 minutes:)

Yup gotta do the deck, a styrene cab, interior and a million other things:) Relieved though cuz the hydro steering is probably the most difficult thing on this rig.

A shot from yesterday

I know you've got something going on with the hydraulics but will we get to check the rest of the system out soon?
