Post Project Resurrection

After a misfortunate accident, my mildly modified SCX10 was lost in the Mississippi River, never to live again.
A moment of silence please...

However it's spirit will live on within "Project Resurrection".

Being constructed entirely from plans and ideas of what I want in a scaler, here is my rough draft list:

(subject to change)
CHASSIS
GCM Cross Canyon - on it's way

AXLES
RC4WD T-Rex 60 - on their way

TRANSMISSION
Axial AX10
Stainless out drive
Steel Gears

MOTOR
Epic 45T - have it!

SPEED CONTROLLER
Castle Creations Mamba Max - have it!

SHOCKS
RC4WD 90mm Scale w/ boots

LINKS
Integy

DRIVESHAFTS
Integy

STEERING SERVO
TowerPro HD Servo - have it!

RADIDIO
Spektrum DS3X - have it!

If any of you guys/gals have any other ideas of what would be cool on a scaler post it, and I will consider including it in my build. As always, I will keep this thread up to date with all the work I do as well as in video on Youtube (user Bimmerben76, check me out!)

nice progress mate , so when you say lost, do you mean you actually never got it back or it just died in the river and is being rebuilt?

It rolled down a cliff and landed in the river. Bt the time I put the radio down and went after it, it had sunk to the bottom. Tuns out the river makes a steep 5' drop off once it leaves shore, so unfortunately I was not able to jump in and get it. I have tried fishing it out with a big hook on my fishin' pole, but that didn't work. I thought about making a "rake" and dredging the area, but I'm sure by now, even with the light current, it has washed away from the area where it went in and I may never find it again. I have not given up though...

Update on "Project Resurrection"

Constructed entirely from plans and ideas of what I want in a scaler. I have made a few runs with Rezzed since I "finished" it a couple weeks ago. I am not completely satisfied with the RC4WD T-Rex 60 axles so I found a set of axles from a Losi Comp Crawler to install. I was also very disappointed in the RC4WD Ultimate Scale Shocks so I replaced them with a set of HR 120mm shocks set up in a half droop/half sprung set up using smaller springs out of a pen. The smaller springs are strong enough to push the axles down when no weight is on them yet the weight of the truck keeps it down to the ground to keep c o g low. Also, instead of filling them with oil, they are simply greased, so they will work without all the mess. Other features include, chassis mounted steering servo, fully operational lighting, booted CV drive shafts, sealed and ventilated electronics box.

The Parts List (subject to change)

Losi Comp Crawler Worm Drive axles - On The Way

imo, lower that chassis down to get you a lower center of gravity - it will handle much better! if at all possible - move the shocks to the top of the shock hops that are molded into the frame - 4 screws and a test should give you a better idea. or at least to try it just to tinker.

I was not completely satisfied with the RC4WD T-Rex 60 axles so I found a set of axles from a Losi Comp Crawler to install. They are geared very much lower than the standard ring and pinion axles, so I have swapped out the Epic 55T for a vintage Kyosho Ion Storm 27T. (you heard me, vintage! but it's been never used!) I also have a couple different pinion/spur gear combos to try out.
I went back to the RC4WD shocks with some minor modifications. Swapped out the springs with lighter pen springs and removed the oil. They are now essentially drooped.
Other features include fully operational lighting, booted CV drive shafts, sealed and ventilated electronics box.

WOW! After 12 years I've stumbled upon this old build thread. With all the knowledge and experience I have now, I'm amazed this truck worked at all. The link geometry was ALL wrong, it sat WAY too high and had tiny tires.
