Default Project: Canadian JK (YUP! New Bright JK)

Everyone should have one of these new bright JK's in their collection, atleast I think so. So here is my take on this popular body. I had no idea which direction this rig was going and still have alot of options in my head but here is where I'm at so far.

I decided the fenders and bumpers had to go, but some minor filling had to take place.

Antenna hole.

Front tube work.

Tried some 2.2's early on, and did not like them. Could be an option for serious crawling later on.

Most recent pics from yesterday, 3 Racing 1/8 scale winch, Wraith axles, 1.9 steelies, TSL boggers. I still need to make some rear upper links and decide on what shocks I'll be using (no it won't sit so low). I've got the rest of the cage built but I still have to build a roll cage inside the truck that will all tie in together, I will also be running a spare in the luggage area.

More to come....

[QUOTEloving the tube work man. can't wait to see this build progress.][/QUOTE]

Thanks, I actually ended up making all the bends by hand LOL. I have a friend that lives across the street from me with a Robbe bender but he's holding it hostage until I paint his body for his 1/8 buggy. You can see it in the background in some of the pics. Boy, when I get ahold of that bender it's on LOL .

Couple more pics I just snapped, time to get to work LOL. I'd like to hear some opinions on the rear roof section.

Lower tubing painted, and roof on.

Roof off, this is pretty much where I want the ride hieght aswell.

As I mentioned I still want to make up an interior cage and tie it into the cage work already finished. Once that's finished I can start working on electronics.

Nice lookin' jk, I have one of those cages and was going to use it but I'm having so much fun making up my own cage work. I think I may have to pick up another JK and I would use it for that as I would like another one of these bodies for my SCX10. I would try and keep the next one a little more stock though (if possible).

Keep bending! You're on to something good. The exo looks sharp. I'd stay with your plan and post up your thoughts and plans. We'll go from there!

Thanks guys, Bulldog that means alot coming from someone who owns my dream crawler hauler (yeah I know it's for sale). I'm trying to get some more of the tubing work done as time permits throughout the day. Here is my inspirations, the side will remain as the black JK but the roof will have some detail similar to the MBRP jeep's interior cage (I love the halos over each seat).

This is were I would like to tie the 2 together to get some bars in behind the seats ect...

Killer 1:1!!! Thanks for the thoughts on my hauler to be. As I mentioned, keep up the work you're doing. If you emulate the one in the pics, you'll have one bad azz rig!

LOL, that jeep is so inspiring. A friend of mine sent it to me from the for sale section on Yotatech when I told him about the jeep.

I actually started with inspiration from this pic with just the bumper build (when it had fenders) but just had so much fun with that I had to keep going.

And this will be something I may do with the paint department (coutesy of Patrick Guyton), if I can hold myself back from camo'ing the thing.

class 1 tires must have center half of the tread covered

class 2 at least the inside of the tire covered

Well the axles are back on my Wraith, I just don't have the heart to render it useless so I ordered some VP goodies for it. The jeep will get standard ax10 axles beefed Up a bit and RC4WD hex adapters for the steelies and 12mm wideners. I also picked up the paint for it today, I will have more pics soon...
