Independent Hummer H1 4 Attachment(s) This is going to be a secondary project as time permits. I bought this body not knowing what I was going to do with it but I knew I had to have it. This is what I came up with so far. The body is 6-3/4"x14" 10" wheelbase 1.9 mud slingers 1/16 traxxas slash suspension(will be customized to work) SCX10 chassis SCX10 trans |
Re: Hummer H1 Trail Runner Awesome H1, looking forward too seeing more of this build. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ff31/tCp90.gif |
Re: Hummer H1 Trail Runner Great start! |
Re: Hummer H1 Trail Runner Ha ha..i got the same build going right now myself with that same body, except i'm using losi comp axles. Good luck with the build,i like the traxxis suspension. |

Re: Hummer H1 Trail Runner mud pluggers!! http://tracgear.com/product/rc4wd/wh...1/DSC_9376.jpg or these.. lots of civilian 1:1's have these: http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...E-DOCTOR-1.jpg |
2 Attachment(s) Turned the rear A arms around to move the suspension mounts from behind the axle to in front of the axle. This will allow a coilover shock rather than the F1 style suspension it had. I will need to shave a small part of the lower A arm to eliminate some binding. I will make links to correct all the alignments later. |
3 Attachment(s) I am trying to figure out the front steering and suspension. Like the rear I eliminated the F1 suspension for a coilover setup. It uses a multiple-pivot behind the axle steering that I considered reusing. But I also considered flipping the knuckles and making a steering setup in front of the axle. Any input? I'm leaning to leaving the behind the axle steering and keeping the shock mount up in front of the axle. I hope to start on the crossmember sections to tie the diff section into the chassis. |
Re: Hummer H1 Trail Runner Cool, it's about time somebody makes a full independent H1... |

I like what your doing here. Its always nice to see something different. I am interested to see how this turns out!"thumbsup" |
I was working on the layout and started looking at the traxxas transmission. It can handle running a 12t Titan 550 so it should hold up fine. I'm going to ditch the scx10 transmission and run the traxxas transmission instead. I will adapt it to the scx10 skid or make a new crossmember for it. I also think I figured out my front differential crossmember. For steering I will run dual Hitec 85mg micro servos utilizing the traxxas steering setup. The only downside is to do this I will need to retain a portion of the traxxas pan where the steering servos mount. Not happy about it but until things move forward that's the plan. I hope to make a chassis mount for each servo if possible. I can say for sure, I like how this one is going to turn out. |
2 Attachment(s) Cut the front end of the Traxxas chassis off for my steering mounts. Now I can get my frame rails set and start the front crossmember section. |
Re: Independent Hummer H1 very kool idea for an H1 "thumbsup" ....I have had this idea for a H1 with full independent arms on all 4 corners and a styrene custom made body, just need full size measurements to scale down to my WB I want to use....need to finish up the builds I got going now.... |
Re: Independent Hummer H1 1/16th slash I-guts are a surprisingly perfect track width. I wonder if you nail this; will it become a new trend? I like it a lot. If I had have known that track width was so great I'm sure something like this might have made it's way into my shop, Best part- it's traxxas, so it will be invincible. |
Re: Independent Hummer H1 What is that body come from?and what scale is it? |
Re: Independent Hummer H1 absolutely proper bad ass H1!!! I like your work already |
