Default hairba11's project: Old School (leafed/tlt/pede/bruiser/hilux)

title pretty much says it all.
picked up a sweet deal from ou812 and put it together to be an old school scale build.
parts list:
tlt axles, hilift leaves, bruiser chassis, pede trans, integy 50 turn, super rooster esc, 4600mah stick pack, tower pro servo, rc4wd steelies and trail docs round it out.

i had room on the outside of the chassis for the servo mount and that left room for the stick pack under the hood.

i haven't mounted the body yet, i'm figuring out how bad i want to hide the body posts at this point.

Got the body posts figured out, then gave up and used electrical tape to hold the esc and r/x on either side of the transmission just to get it running today.

video action!

just took it to the creek down in the back yard. super soupy stuff if you don't have enough floatation. these narrow tires weren't enough. i also think i need to drop off to about a 35 turn motor from the 50 in there, just a little more wheelspeed would be nice.

pics

the last pic here highlights the wheelbase being off about 1/4". re-arching the front leaves helps, but they relax back to normal aftr a couple of minutes.

thanks guys.
one of my local friends here got one of the team driver TF2 trucks, i'd be interested to do a direct comparison when he gets it going.

Just curious? Why would you use hi lift leaf over bruiser leafs? The hi lift leafs are
Shorter arent they? Wouldn't that change the shackle angle?

i miss those days. you need a set of 3.75" rock hard tires to complete the package. ;)

rocksteady, i don't have bruiser leaves, and they are flatter. i was able to get the body lower on the chassis this way also.

Stang killa, i had briefly entertained the thought of throwing a set of tamiya BFG's but decided i wanted to enjoy driving it.

Gotta love it. Every time I see a build like this I'm more impressed with how classic it is. Very jealous. Great pics as well!
