Thanks. Nope, nothin' special. Good prep with minimal gaps helps a lot. I'm using Harris Safety Silv 56 brazing alloy which flows well. Also it helps to remember that it will only flow where there's flux so careful application of flux helps also. On some joints I use a small painters brush to apply it. You have to be careful because you can also end up with too little flux which can result in a weak joint with voids.

Thanks, it took a while to get everything to fit for sure. It was meant to be a prototype but I ended up building it up. I'm reluctant to change it because everything's so tight but I'd also like to center the axle better. We'll see.

I always click in on threads that have "new to brazing" or similar statements in the title, because they're usually good for a few laughs.

This time I'm feeling a little cheated though...

There's nothing funny in this thread! It's chock-full of well thought out design and excellent fabrication work! WTF!!??

Seriously, real nice job on your axle trusses dude, they look fabulous...

One thought: mount your upper rear links inside the chassis instead of outside, that way they won't need spacers and will not be so prone to binding...

Thanks for the props.

The rear links would actually bind more if I mounted them on the inside of the brackets. There wouldn't be enough triangulation of the links for my taste either.

Edit: Actually tried remounting the links today and I need to eat my words a bit. With the uppers mounted inboard frame side there was no binding and no axle walk, though I wouldn't mind a bit more triangulation for the added strength in a roll I think I'll stick with them inboard for now. The mount is slightly stronger inboard and I picked up a little more pinion angle. Thanks for the suggestion Big Mike.

Started working on the battery location. I was originally going to go low in the front but it fit like it was supposed to go here and it's lower so I'm thinking I'll stick with it. The COG seems good as well as the balance.

You have some mad skills! I really like all the bracing you did with holes drilled in them..and the Panhard setup is awesome! How many hours do you have in the chassis so far? and what flux do you use? ..Great job!

Thanks. Flux is Harris Stay Silv White Flux. Hard to say how many hours exactly are in it now. I spend a lot of time just looking at it figuring stuff out. Actual fab time... maybe 30 hours... really hard to say though.

Right on I figured they would work out better mounted inboard. Looks good now! Yea, your only worry is gonna be if you roll it hard. Other than that geometry-wise that should be real close. Maybe you could re-work the lower link chassis mounts a little closer to each other? I'm not sure I would make that effort myself, I like it the way it is. Of course you have to test-drive it...

More nice fabrication on the BTA steering. No flex out of that mount!

If you shot the servo with a coat of black I bet it will blend in and not be so noticeable. Maybe even incorporate some kind of inner fender into it as well.

It is starting to look very King of Hammer-like. Good lookin' rig...

Thanks, wanted something stout yet somewhat lightweight.

Original plan was for separate mounts for the upper and lower links but after doing the fronts I copied it for the rear mainly because it was easier.

Servo mount is BEEF. I've done them out of thinner mat'l and they end up bending. This one's 1/8" bent then heat treated by heating it cherry red then dousing it with h2o. Pretty confident the servo will let go before the mount. I couldn't bend it by hand.

I may mess with the servo later if it bothers me, we'll see. If I'd known the battery would end up next to the tranny the servo may have ended up centered and out of sight. It's too far along for me to feel like changing it now though.

Not sure what the final outcome will be but I agree it does have KOH tendencies. The influences are a mash of a Jessie Haine's car, a Twisted Customs buggy some Ultra 4 rides and my own ideas. Thanks again for the props.
