Newbright jk rubicon build Hello everyone, This is my second scale rig, so please bear with me as I am trying to learn :) I was into RC cars, mostly 1/5ths like 5 years ago, now I'm back for scalers. I wanted to build a scale Jeep JK to try and match my 1:1. I will post its photos later in this thread. I started out with a stock Axial SCX10 Dingo kit, well actually 2. One is for a friend of mine. At the end of the photos you will see I have to do more stuff to match my 1:1, well in time :) Some of the things I have done so far Tekin FXR ESC and 45T pro motor Custom made aluminum 4 link 3Racing winch Futaba 4PL Turnigy Servo Speed Regulator 1.9 Interco BOGGER tires. Misc. scale accessories, some purchased, some hand made. New Bright JK Swamp Dawg body Now some pics of the progress. Two finished Dingos http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9400.jpg Tony Montana will be the driver http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9374.jpg The first scaler I build was the Tamiya CR-01 http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9403.jpg I dont like the fast steering action, it just kills the look of the scalers. Thats why I will be using this regulator. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9490.jpg |
Countinued... The newbright JK body... Needs too much sanding :) http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9418.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9421.jpg Took out all the things http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9437.jpg Ready for sanding... http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9438.jpg |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build Progress is slow and painful :) http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9444.jpg I took off the bumpers and sliders http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9456.jpg All masked up for primer http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9463.jpg |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build First coat of primer , then I sanded it down. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9469.jpg On the chasis http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9466.jpg Well at this point I sent the body to my auto repair shop for the paint. I want it to be a replica of my 1:1 JK so I didn't want to take any chances. I had some time to longer the chassis to fit the newbright body and also I 4 linked it. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9489.jpg |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build I also cut Tony Montana's legs to fit him inside the car :) http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9571.jpg Finally the body arrived http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9534.jpg I put back the lamps http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9539.jpg On the chassis http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9543.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9544.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9556.jpg And for my friend we went for a Range Rover L322 body but we didn't like the looks of it. So now we are waiting for his Defender D90 http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/IMG_9523.jpg |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build And now with my 1:1 :) Now the tires just look cool :) http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/1D4_0678.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/1D4_0696.jpg |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build And finally some mixed shots I made a road sign very quickly, I will change it to be more scale. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/1D4_0513.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/1D4_0524.jpg Trying the pulpal http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/1D4_0556.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/1D4_0648.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...0/1D4_0658.jpg |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build lol...this JK is really sweet!!! glad to see the 1:1 build here"thumbsup" by the way, how did u mount ur body?? |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build Quote:
:) thanks. I mounted the body with velcro. In the front I used the body posts and on the back I had to make a small L shape bracket to put the velcro on. I got the idea from this forum :) Also I had to cut the interior to fit the transmission. |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build no comment... just  |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build Amazing work! Nothing else to say, just awesome... Sending this thread to a buddy who wants to do build one of these JK Rubicon bodies (but can't find one). |
Re: Newbright jk rubicon build That thing is SWEET! |

Re: Newbright jk rubicon build Quote:
Thanks :) Well on ebay there are some sellers but the prices are too high. I bought this body from ebay UK , the price was reasonable compared to the US ebay |
