Sweet mega huge IPhone Tapatalk uploaded pictures!

Pulled the front axle apart. Guess I should have greased the gears a bit more. Little bit of teeth chewing but should be ok. Made the other panel and secured the battery mount panel.

might have found the source of my grinding. looks like some factory cast defects. causing the pinion gear not to fully mesh with the ring gear. didnt noticed it when i greased the axles. the one top right is kinda tall. not sure if the gears will work again if i grind these spots down.

check yours!

Awesome. Have you thought about aluminum panels?

And you have chiggers on those rocks.

i have some .025 ga sheet. the way the side panels side into he side of chassis solid metal panels wont work. i would have to mount them on the outside of te cage. dunno if i like that look just yet.
yea, the chiggers are already creepin'.

It was just extra power coating that was built up. It was enough for the pinion cover to not seat correctly. It didn't let the gears mesh quite enough.
I ground the two areas down and reassembled. Did some quick shop floor testing. Might hold up with the chewed up gear teeth. If it's not pouring rain this afternoon Ill test it out better.

Ran a 850mah pack through the F-Toy last night. After grinding down the excess powder coating so the pinion cover would sit flush, there were no issues with the gear mesh. Even with the knarled up pinion gear teeth. Just might hold up.

With this truck only weighing 5.5lbs it really crawls great. With the limited suspension travel and lightweight, it floats over rocks. It will lift a tire but not flip. Keeps on crawlin'.

The approach angle isn't the best with the front hangers up front and the small bracket to hold the front end together. But if I can get one tire on the rock face it walks up.

Also, I probably missed it, but why did you stick that frame extender deal up front?

I saw those radiators the other day. Cory makes some cool stuff. I am spending the last of my RC funds for the pay period on some new axle diff/pinion gears. Out testing tonight and it looks like the gears are not going to hold up from the previous factory defect mentioned. I have been babying this truck so far too.
I'll have to PM Cory and see what the smallest radiator he carries. Not sure if it would fit under the hood. I have plans for lights and possibly a narrowed yota grill.

I had to modify the front frame to set the leafs out further to get the wheelbase better up front. It was just the two pieces of key stock. Pictured below. I had the welder out while adding the panel tabs and figured the front could use some more support. I'll make a short stinger in the future.

I was thinking it be a rear mounted radiator.

That is an option as well. I am going to get a fuel out back. The trailfinder 2 fuel cell looks cool.

Thanks. The leaf spring setup is really fun to drive.
I have ordered some replacement front axle gears.

I just finished up modding the 1.9 axial beadlocks to fit SLW hubs.

I limped around the F-Toy for a pack at the ARCC comp but the front gears are toast. New gear set ordered last friday.

I modded the SLW's via Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs thread. I didn't need much extra clearance but I didn't want to go the longer hex route. Simply cause I only had 2 longer hexes with the correct hardware. I have tons of SLW hubs.

225 hubs all around. Thin hexes up front and medium width hexes out back. Up front is tricky. Cause the front tires tuck at a narrow width but it binds the tire into the cage. So I after adding a touch of wheel width I put some limiters up front, ~8mm, and it solved that issue.

With the leafs, SCX chassis and yota axles, this F-Toy is a setup of millimeters. Steering setup just clears, suspension cycling tweaked alot, tires just clearing the cage, etc. It sure is fun to drive! Love floating those tires.

Silver hardware for the SLW hubs will be ordered soon.

@5.5lbs I am running Crawler Innovations dual stage 1.9 foams up front without the outer ring and stock RC4WD foams out back.

~ 9" wide front and rear

Scale carnage! Full size F toys eat gears.

Very cool. Can't wait to drive it!

Thanks. Still a work in progess. I got some wraith seats but they weigh 2 oz each! I'll make some out of aluminum soon.

This fuel cell is on the way. ROLANDROCKSHOP made it up for me. Styrene and skill. It will sit in the rear of the frame.

Got in the replacement front gears in. Should be fine now, that the extra powder coating is removed from the axle.

Got the fuel cell in. It's a perfect fit. I just told Josh the dimensions and I wanted it recessed a bit. Just need to figure out how I want to mount it.

New seats and other scale items should be here Monday.
