| Class 1 Subaru Brat Build
I always liked Subarus and I ran a couple different old lifted wagons offroad and as daily drivers. I never owned a brat, but until I get good with styrene or someone volunteers for make me a wagon body, then I using a brat body. :-) I wanted to be as close to real as possible... Here are some pix of some of the 1:1 Subes I have owned. :-) I had a thing for Loyale wagons and then I would throw a 3" Ozzy body lift on them and stick some truck wheels and tires on. The last one had pipe bumpers, dual range transmission, and dual electric fans, Limited Slip differential, and it had more ground clearance then my cousin Jeep Cherokee (stock). It was a blast to drive and super cheap to fix and got 24mpg. I have owned somewhere around 7 subes in my lifetime. :-) This one here was pretty sweet, and this is the only remaining pic of it after my harddrive crash. It's hard to see but there was a lot of room after the lift on it. This last one is not mine, but it was a guy that is a member of Subaru club I used to belong too. Full 6" custom lift, with full lockers, he also stuff a 6 cyl motor into this beast. :-) This is the inspiration for my build. Last edited by Tin Soldier; 06-30-2012 at 10:51 AM. |

I messed and messed with MRC axles, and custom frame rails and scx10 frames and different chassis and blah blah blah (been working on this for a couple years now). I could never quite get it to be how I wanted. Finally I just got a used CC01 chassis from Rckcrwlr and I think it will achieve the look I had in mind all along. Subarus were always independent suspension so doing solid axles under it just felt wrong. I thought of doing a 1/16 slash, but the shocks and transmission are all wrong. So this is close enough to make me happy. Independent up front and solid axle in the rear. Like I modded it for trailing. This one looks like it was stretch out a bit so I will have to shorten the rear links about an inch for the body to line up right. Then I have to fab up a couple bumpers and do an interior and a roll bar. This should be sweet. I am itching to get started, but right now I have 3 rigs that are half done. So I better get one finished then go to the next one. |

Ok, I got the rear axle sorted out and got it in the right place. I also cover the bottom of the brat with some thin steel to fill the hole that was there and to give me a spot to attach the roll bar that will come later. :-) What do you think? |

Looking good! That body does seem like a good starting point for making a wagon. I have a 1:1 83 GL myself.

Looks good!! A guy that runs with us here has one like it. Reinforce the body A-pillar and roof line, they crack. |

Man I love this truck! Reminds me of my old 83 brat I had in the 80s. I put my own jerry rigged lift on it and put a set of 31in mud tires on it. So much fun. Due to the pancake style engine I had duel exhaust on it. It would be cool to get another cc01 and put independant in the front and back! |

Im a subaru FREAK haha.. I have had about a dozen GL wagons from 79 to 89 I love them all, last one i had had a 6 inch lift that a local guy makes for them, 30 in TSL's rear locker, and best of all a 2.2 swapped from a 96 legacy with true dual exaust, no cats, cherry bombs (sound so cool!), and low range 4x4. NO suspension articulation but with lockers who needs that in a car that weights 2000 pounds (about).... it has more diff clearance than this yota I was wheelin with had 38's. people used to freak when they watched me go through some places now you know why i wrote you about this when i saw it for sale I really want to find a wagon body too, that would be very cool. I may build a brat too tho. anyway, I like it, nice work |

I also love subies. I have had about 8 GL wagons and a couple legacy's and now a 2012 outback. I am on all the forums but not much recently under the same screen name. I would love to do a wagon build. Currently i am working on a 06 sti mrc build. I have a brat rc car i made from a radio shack zip zap monster truck and a old school stomper body. I love it. I cant access the fs threads. How much are you asking for it? Last edited by iluvdrt; 08-16-2012 at 03:02 PM. |

$150 plus ship. Roller status with a ton of brand new parts and all the originals and a might even throw in a set of rc4wd white wagon wheels to complete the ensemble. :-)
