bmuzz1's 2012 NWSC C1 "H2 Grocery Getter" and C2 "Cheropile Cherokee"

So my Wife gave me the green light to attend the 2012 NWSC since I had to miss last years MSD's due to starting a new job.

I have sold off a couple rigs in the past couple months for various reasons and am down to only 1 now but want to make my trip worth my while so I signed up for C1, C2 and the 1.9 KOL...yes 1 rig, 3 events. :ror:
I figured the easiest way to do this would be to make sure that the wheelbase was the same which is why I decided to run the H2 and Cherokee bodies, that and since they both have a fairly flat grill bumpers would be able to be universal.
The only changes other then bodies from C1 to C2 is wheels/tires and a quick install of a pair of wheel wells in the Cherokee and it is ready to go.

Here's the specs of the rigs...

Electronics:
FXR
Savox 1268mg servo
CC bec
3Racing winch w/heyOK controller
Ko Propo EX-5UR tx/rx
brood Apocalypse R/S 35t
2200mah 3s 30c batteries

Axles:
Axial front w/OD gears, 300's, Axial C's, VP knucks, HandBrothers CMS
Axial rear w/Axial rear straights and HD gears, DMG truss

Tranny:
Axial filled with RRP gears, 32p 56t spur, 13t pinion
MIP's

Bumpers/Sliders:
Front and rear bumper made out of 3/16" solid rod by me
sliders are RC4WD I believe and are 3/16" solid rod

On to the pics....

Your slip is showing in the rear.

Looks great with both bodies on there. Great solution to your "problem". "thumbsup"

What is your flexible snorkel tube made from?

Yeah, I've still got to whip up some wheel wells that can be installed Friday night. :ror:

"thumbsup"

It's a reusable flexible straw from a sports bottle with a cap from a spent tube of Shoe Goo.

Well I got the rear gap filler panels made for the Cheropile so as Grizz put it "my slip won't show" :ror:
I also whipped up a set of wheel wells out of some heavy clear plastic painted on the inside that can be zip-tide in place before the C2 event.

Is this the rig that used to have the red LR3 body on it? What happened to Little Ava? I can't keep up with you and your rigs?

Yes it did...:ror:

So I pulled the servo and water proofed it and then with the help of my 6yr old daughter I plasti-dipped the ends of my Lipos. I should be good to go now, 5 3s lipos and 1 little 2s for the lights on the H2.
In the above chassis pic you can see I already sealed up the electronics box with E6000.
I also put my LED control units in balloons since they are attached to the bodies and liquid taped the backs of the LED's.
With any luck "knock on wood" everything should stay safe from water damage.

Made a quick muffler and exhaust out of some 3/16 brake line and sheet metal. Not sure If I'll paint it or not, I kinda like the way it looks raw.

That looks awesome man! I kind of like how the exhaust on the LR3 has rusted a little, I would imagine this would do the same? "thumbsup"

What do you paint your fender wells with? I need to redo the land rover.

Thanks bud!

I painted these with black lexan paint to help combat the flaking. I used Krylon outdoor spaces textured paint on the LR3.

Re: bmuzz1's 2012 NWSC C1 "H2 Grocery Getter" and C2 "Cheropile Cherokee"

I took the H2 up to Prescott with CRAWLER DAD and a few other friends today for a little shake down run. Found a couple little issues that need addressing before the comp. First I need to up my spur gear to a 54-56 tooth because the new 35t motor was getting too hot with the 52t. Second, I found that my tranny screws were working loose and even lost one so we'll need to fix that.
Otherwise it was a great test run. The rig is well balanced and should do really well. The Gmade tires I'm running which I've never seen on another rig before but took a chance on worked amazingly well for climbing and side hill even under the weight of the H2.

I also got some new lights to use on the H2 and the Cheropile Cherokee from CRAWLER DAD that I'll be installing on the front bumper, Rock sliders and the roof of the H2 probably. The lights will run off 12v like the others, but can be ran off 6v as well they just wont be as bright. the other difference is in the 5" light, it uses 12 LEDs not 6 like some of the others.
