Arrow *Unimoger's FJ build*

Ok, so I picked up one of the new fj cruiser r/c's from Toyofast awhile back. It has been staring at me on the shelf, saying please give me a real chassis. So, I saw a pic from XB BOY and whaaallla, had my plan. I then found a XC chassis from 93yjpiece , with the rare and almost dead match, wrangler wheels and tires. SO, here is the start. should be done shortly, not alot of fab work for this one. Going to do a custom 4 link, mild lift and shocks, bearings, lockers, winch, lights. On to the pics:

Here is what I started with :

Here is what it is going on:

stay tuned, more to come.......

Hate to bust yer bubble, Ben, but those are Isuzu Mu wheels. The Wrangler wheels are a gold mesh design.

Still hella sweet, though. Nice and clean. Unusual to find a set of Goodyears that still has the letters on. I've seen those fetch $100 or more on the Bay. I'd put a set of BFG's on for running, as you can get them cheap, $91 eBay orgies notwithstanding, they're still eight bucks a pair brand new.

I've got an XC build going on, too. They're almost as addictive as BB-51's. Mine's getting a King Blackfoot F-150 body

or throw a set of wranglers from the hummer on... you could probably get a LOT of money for those tires on the bay...

looks good.. but uh dont you have your OWN chassis to be working on?? huh? huh??

Love to see how this one turns out...

I am trying to source wheels/tires along these lines. Is there someplace I can order some? Don't need to be the expensive ones like Unimog has, but the $8 BFG's sound fine. Where to get them?

Not a real fan of the new FJ's, but I'm sure this project will turn out decent with you making it.

I think I might be getting myself one of these XC's for the rainy months.

Most of the eBay stores have them. Or order them from your LHS, part number 9805481 (2pcs).

Ben, get out the Dremel and cut the snowplow off the front of the chassis and glue a new aluminum skidplate on there. It makes a big difference in how these rigs perform in the rough stuff.

Savage bumper bolts right on. Wheels are Tamiya 2-piece, and the trick Goodyear stickers are from Autographics

Definetely sell those tires on ebay, and pick up a set of BFGs.
