With the rear axle, you need a special clamp tool...I just made my own. Old pliers trimmed down with a dremel.

With the rear STRC shafts, I had to grind down the inside of the wheel hex so it didn't rub on the end of the axle housing.

With all these extra holes, I would think VP would be making disc brake kits (like the wraith ones) and some other axle accessories.

The only bad thing I have seen with these axles are the 4-link mounts, they sit a bit higher thing stock....hence not allowing me to get the axle tucked up in the chassis as close as I want to. With the stock axles, I used the "New Era" 4-link mount, it allowed me to have the top links quite a bit lower then other 4-link mounts like the GCM or Gear head ones.

To get rid of the current...some would say..."the monster truck look", I am going the reverse shock mounts(mounting holes closer to the ground) and hopfully get the axle closer to the chassis. I am also going to fab up a new front 4-link mount to gain more clearance. Not that the VP 4-link mount is super bad, its designed just like the GCM or Gear Head mounts, I just want to get the axle closer to the chassis. I noticed this is something Chunk did on his but he is running a panbar setup.

New fart can.

After I swap the lower shock mounts I am going to remove that plastic chassis brace to allow the 4-link to tuck up in the chassis rails.

Picked up some VP Currie panhard mounts, mainly because it will help me get the axles closer to the chassis rails. I am not a big fan of panhard bar setups but kinda forced to do it in this rig.

SCX-JK Panhard bar for Vanquish SCX Currie axles (black)

Found that my screws on the ring to the locker backed out a little bit(Chunk had this same issue...time to use a lot of loctete this time)....might even shave down the heads of the screws a bit.

Picked up a new VP steering link, pretty nice unit. Note, anyone with VP 8deg knuckles could run these links.:awsome:

I finally got my tube fenders brazed back to my sliders, the one joint wasn't good enough for hard driving.

Brazing that thinwall tube fender tubing and the square solid stock sliders was not fun.

Did some testing on the Curries today....crawled pretty well with the extra weight in the back.

Been waiting for a long time for this "3 Link conversion currie mount"....it came in the mail yesterday...woohoo.
3 Link conversion mount SCX Currie Black

It came with one of the more detailed instructions I have seen from VP.

Fits on the axle nicely.

I really like the fact it plugs into the shock mount.

You can see where I had the link mounted previously....the new mount sits a lot lower...insuring it will not contact the winch or steering servo.

Another shot of the mount.....just hope the parhard link clears everything after I mount the axle.

Not to much to update but I had Eddie at Brood rebuild my motor. I keep thinking about going back to the Pitbulls but just like the tire height of the Baja Claws, plus there getting warn in now.

Here is a quick shot I took at the WARCRC Scale comp this weekend (8/10/14).

Great build, I personally think the pitbulls look more proportioned on the clod body. But certainly cool either way.

I agree, the pitbulls do work very well too! I guess the main reason I run the taller Baja's is due the majority of the WARCRC location are non-mono rock and diff/ground clearance seems to do be needed more. But who know, I might toss the pitbulls on, it's been awhile.
