| UniMog Scaler
So I picked up a UniMog roller chassis. I'm going to make some changes and finish the build. Should be fun. I don't know why but I love the Unimog design - kind of like owning a bulldog and thinking they are beautiful I guess. Any suggestions from you guys for scaling points for items that I can add along the way will be helpful. What I do know that I will be adding is a winch on the elevated portion of the rear flatbed. That way I can run it any direction. Some D rings on front and back as well. Not to mention I'll go with all sorts of goodies strapped onto the flatbed... maybe in large basket type of holder like you normally see on top of a roof of a crawler. So I started with some diamond plate for the flatbed. Love this stuff - easy to work with and looks sharp! then made the rear fenders. Gotta make the insides for the fenders still. |

I mock up each piece with thick construction paper then when it's perfect I'll trace it onto the diamond plate. The diamond plate has plastic on each side of it so that you can draw on it but peel off the plastic so you leave no marks behind. A fellow named Casey - I think he stick built it. Man - he does nice work. Last edited by Fumbles; 09-22-2012 at 11:25 AM. | |

So I got the side of the wheel wells finished and pretty much most of the bed done. Then I got to work on the front inner fenders & wells. Gotta build a waterproof box to stuff all of the electronics into as well. Last edited by Fumbles; 09-22-2012 at 12:16 PM. |

Would you mind getting more pics of the axles ? Digging how the steering and suspension is setup.

me too. Im seeing some very cool suspension work up front there. lets see that from the underside... looks like just basically a BTA steering and 3 link and coils and shoks.. I like how you mounted the absorbers. still cant tell if its 3 link panhard or just a 4 link tho....... what knuckles did you use? this is one nice rig oh and I always used the HotRacing diamond plate, its super thin. do you know what this stuff is like in comparison to the HR stuff? been looking at the RC3WD wanting to try it.. thanks Last edited by AxialJeepster; 09-22-2012 at 08:37 PM. That diamond plate really makes the flatbed, good choice. Agreed, interesting front axle setup.

So I was making skid plates for the sides and was using heavy duty plastic but the whole time I was thinking "Meh..." so I got to thinking and went searching in the garage and found some 26 gauge steel and voila ! A little hammerin' and drillin' and I like it A LOT more. Gotta finish the other side tomorrow... |

So I finally got some time to work on the Mog. Finished the front inner wheel wells & made a plate from metal to go at the front of the bed / back of the cab. Now I'm working on stick building a water proof box for all of the electronics. |
