Default Weapon's Defender

This has been posted on Scale builders guild for a while but I thought I would share it here now that its close to finished.

I picked up a gelande chassis and links from another user here a while back.

Axles I have had sitting waiting for a project, ordered some new goodies from RC4WD

this should be the ride height.

Recessed the fuel filler, this was much easier than I thought it would be

removed the material behind the grill, might do a rad

Interior

Thought this might look cool.

carpeted the interior
added the half door trim to the doors
added sills and a bunch of structure to the body

Paint didnt turn out very good, I tried fasmask on the hinges and flares. I should have used tape....anyway repaired the flares and hinges, repaired the pealed green paint, threw the fasmask in the garbage and moving on.

soft top framework. soldered coat hangers.

strengthened the windshield frame as much as I could. and made some sun visors.

saw this on a landy forum, company in france makes them for the turbo diesel defenders because the hoods are thinner than the earlier defenders apparently,

made one for the rear as well

stitched up the side flaps, made the straps, made the buckles.

continued in next post

Looks awesome.

Where did you get the interior?

I think you should add a B pillar to the cage. It would finish it off pretty good, as well as give a little more support to it.

Thanks very much, the interior came with the body. bought it from this guy

eBay My World - hwpeterl

I very specifically did not include a b pillar as its not actually a cage its a soft top frame, so the goal is shade with minimum obstruction of view for passengers.

Weapon-

Looks great! Do you have any pictures of how the front bumper mounts? Does it have brackets that bolt into the frame?

thanks!

bumper is an RC4WD piece I think specific to the gelande it has two holes to allow it to be screwed to the front of the servo mount/crossmember.

no brackets come with it.

hope that helps

This is an awesome D90! Great inspiring work...

So, from the first picture, what's the vehicle in the background?

Cheers,

Nice work. The soft top really defines the look of the defender. What part of canada are you in?

Weapon,
Thanks for posting updates! Really inspired work... there's a D90 (1:1) that I saw for sale, AA Yellow with a soft top. And yours is how I envision mine turning out - hopefully!

Cheers
