Happy 4th of July...seek out a veteran today and shake his/her hand, they put their life on the line so you can celebrate your independence today..... Now for you picture junkies... Just before we begin...I don't think I will ever take on a body mod again. The flairs are made of styrene and they required some body fill to look right. I did not do either one of these very well....plus I realized too late that I was going to have to paint the outside when I was done. I don't think that will look right after a few comps....we'll see. Also my sticker guy was too busy to make me another "Roadrunner " decal to keep the same theme I had with the 57 Chevy...so I used some old stickers I used when I ran on-road....too bad they don't say "Red Rum" instead of "Bum"...I tried to modify one but it was junk. I also tore down the XR mod axle again, there was some clicking that I never did figure out what it was. Put it all back together and it went away, something wasn't right in there. Also re-did the steering link...the other one did stick out a bit far. This one is just off the pumpkin at full lock... I might take her out tomorrow for some real shake down...I'll get some trail pictures then ....pretty hot in this area of the country lately....102 just outside my dog house right now I've gone thru the entire truck...she's ready for comping Thanks for looking |

So, out for a shake down run. First off, I have to be careful of wedging a tire in odd places now. The steering is so different, probably gong to take some getting used to. I sure do like it though. Normal junk after a re-build....screws backing out, lost a nut on my steering linkage....ran for about an hour and a half, then twisted one of the beef tubes. I noticed it right away so didn't break anything else in the process. One of the issues I had while building this axle up was the screw that holds the beef tube was rubbing on the fat part of the universal. So I shimmed it back, and it's just not enough to hold the tube in place. That's why it twisted on me with the bench test. Thought I'd fixed it, but apparently not. I'm going to add some additional screws at the thinner end of the universal shaft. Ha ha, just noticed my winch line.... Some minor issues to fix, probably the most capable rig in my garage right now. This rig will go wherever I point it...pretty pleased with it right now. |

So, just an update before comp season starts. Drove this rig in an endurance comp a couple of weeks ago. It did very well, held together all thru 100 gates and three battery packs. Even had a few "how'd you do that" ??? A good friend of mine turned me on to the rules for a class 2 truggy. As much as I liked the bobbed tail end of my truggy, as the rule stipulates, the truggy frame must protrude past the pumpkin. Mine did not...I was short by 3/4" so I added a little to the ass end of this...needed a place to mount my whip antenna anyway After looking at the pic, it's deceiving how long it is We'll get some more pics tomorrow at a GTG at a nice climbing spot |

Great looking truck..in your last post: you mention you were trying to get it closer to c2 legal, just a heads up there is also a rule in there that you're dove tail can be no less than half as wide as your cab.. I only bring it up because in the last pic it looks a little skinny..

I read that also, and just re-read it again...and it appears that it isn't a "rule" per say but that I wouldn't get credit for a dovetail because it's more than 1/2 the cab width. " Dovetailing the rear * a truggy/tube bed that is narrower than the cab counts as a dovetail* (half the width of the widest part of the cab) |
