Once you get a nice tuned foam in them they are terrific....I used the little Nova foams from Crawler Innovations...at first I thought they were too stiff but after running them for awhile, they are awesome.

Yup, it was my first tube/brazing job...worked well for the first comp year, and probably will for a bit of this year, but already thinking of a new set up.

I think I want a small American flag on that whip....
BTW, thanks for that Fly....

I'm pretty sure Ryan is correct on this for C2.

- Dovetailing the rear (1/2 the width of the widest part of the cab) *a truggy/tube bed that is narrower than the cab counts as a dovetail*.

This is a two part statement. The first part is that if you dovetail a truck it can not be any narrower than 1/2 the width of the widest part of the cab. The second part is if you have a truggy/tube bed that is narrower then the cab then you must follow the rule for dovetailing. Which would mean that the back end of your dovetail where your flag is would need to be atleast 1/2 the width of your cab.

I think you have a great looking truck. I really like that old cab on it. Would just really hate to see you get to a C2 comp and get told your truck doesn't qualify. Though you should still be able to get into C3 I think.

I assume you know about and meet this rule for C2 too:
• You must run a full rail chassis, and the chassis (including bumpers) must be 3" longer than the wheelbase (this includes a chassis with a truggy rear frame).

Good luck and don't give up on styrene work, it gets easier the more you do it.

I run with a group about 2 hours from me...I ran this truck last year and they never said anything about the dove tail. I also didn't see anything about this when I built the the original tuber. I did see the 3" rule. I wonder if this is new or I just missed it last year. Maybe they will let me run it...it's not like I'm running in the top 3 anyway, I'd be happy to crack the top 10

I want to comply with these rules...and it seems the only way around this is to build another tube. I don't think I can get that done before the comp season.

Wow 2 hours away?!

In 2011 and 2012 the rules only stated that it was one of the two out of three things you could do to your truck; Pinch, boat sides, dovetail. 2013 is the first year that has a dimension attached to it.

www.sorrca.com for the rules.

The sorrca rules are there to give clubs a commonality of rules. So if you bring your truck up to where I live you wont be faced with completely different requirements, but some clubs still tweak the rules to their liking and such and make exceptions.. I know if you drove 2 hours to play and it was a vote, I would vote to allow your truck. Unless it gave you a HUGE advantage, which I doubt it does. On the other hand maybe you could just add one more bar to each side to meet the rule instead of a whole new tube.

Aha....my friend and I were discussing that, and I never saw any #'s attached to any of the details either...only when I saw these rules did they stipulate the width of the dovetail or the length of the tube (past the pumpkin). The 3" longer than the wheelbase was there I think.

My group would probably let me run and tell me to fix it for next time. Just trying to plan on that I suppose. And yes, I did think of adding to what's there as a quick fix, and tie it together somehow. Just prefer it to be clean....

I'll come up with something....thanks wolf
