Nah, dont stress over it , its a hobby remember. think it threw and then build it , I was thinking about it today at work , maybe make your mounts so they go far enough forward to use the skid mounting bolts , all 4 . Triangulate off of those mounts . Instead of bolting the cage to the mounts braze it to the mounts and use the skid bolts to mount it . just an idea for you to ponder

Hey post... Maybe if you left more of the chassis rails towards the rear you could mount the rear cage at two mounting points which would keep it from pivoting Check out these sample pics i found for ya after googling truggy...its a 1:1 rig. its a truggy with a flat bed. Hope this gets the brain working. |

Nah...I'm good, it's suppose to be a hobby and not everything you do comes out right the first time...if it did it'd be boring You guys are great....thanks for your input and support....that 1-1 looks great Alex Pale...I am using the skid mounts in the back...actually the upper link mounts. I was looking at it tonight and the triangular points have a difficult time getting past the tranny unless I bend them, which defeats the purpose I think...also tend to want to lean against the motor case. That can't be good (magnets). Running another strip of metal along the rails and mounting to the front skid screws is pretty weak....so I was looking at incorporating the sliders. Originally I was going to do a separate part for the sliders, now it seems the best of both worlds/problems could be fixed with attaching the tube work to the slider and bolting it to the chassis in the forward holes for the upper links in the front. The other scenario I had was some small angle iron pieces Meatwad picked up for his bed on the 6x6 we are putting together. We had a junk piece and I flattened the angle out of one end , twisted it so that flattened side fit against the chassis rails and bent a 90* in the angle portion. The tube fits in the angle part perfectly and would suffice for an "L" bracket....the piece in the picture is too long....but you get the idea One on each side would strengthen this up quite a bit...it would also be a start for a battery mount just behind the front shock towers...and a mount point for a bench seat in the interior. The more I think about this the better I like it...if I keep it screwed down, I can still take it apart and get to the tranny and motor. I'm starting to babble now....sleep on it and if it still looks good in the morning so be it.... Thanks again guys.... |

[QUOTE=Lobonyc;4049664]Hey post... Maybe if you left more of the chassis rails towards the rear you could mount the rear cage at two mounting points which would keep it from pivoting [QUOTE] Actually the rules state that the only thing past the cab in the back is the truggy frame...so the chassis can't extend back all the way...wish it could , it would be easy then.... Nice find though... I may still build a flat bed with the other rails.... |

ARgh! there goes those rules again. I think you will figure it out eventually...The first attempt is always difficult because you are creating something from scratch. Oh and by the way...those pics...when i first saw them i was like...wow this is a cool RC...this might help post...it was only after i was typing the post that i realized it was a 1:1. I duped myself! |

Another idea I've seen but not sure of how well it works, incorporating with the sliders a small piece of tube from the rear of the sliders up to about the middle of the roll bar at an angle. This will require a couple things though... That the body sits inside it (visible) and that the roll bar is wide enough to accommodate the body. Hope that makes a little sense Looking forward to progress Greg |

yes, that makes sense...I was going to do that with the sliders...and still might. would give me a handy place to attach the body also... You Compin Sunday ? |

Handy attachment agreed. Body post holes on the hood aren't pretty imo. Yes on comp Sunday. Got a few things to do though. Freshen bearings, new cheapie motor and figure out how to fix my winch drum bobbin. Darn bluebird winch servo on 10amp esc snapped it in half... |

I'm afraid those post are part of the plan... At least for the time being There's no mount at all in the rear.... |

HAHAHAHA hey post...some of the best work is often created when the wife is out! that's how i finished my hood, when the wife went out i proceeded(ran) to my paint booth for some serious spraying (I had egg nog as my creative juice). |
