HAHAHAHA that was funny...it seems like an easy cleanup...I failed to mention the moping i had to do afterwards, lol.

After painting i have to change the bag and mop the floor...the over spray settles on the floor like talcum dust. when i did the red panels i thought i was in the clear..i switched bags and the wife was none the wiser...that was till she walked around the apt in white socks...the bottoms were red

Wish i had a few more hours of sunlight...its tough being in the future...

Ah but you guys get a three hour head start on the day...it all works out in the wash

I had a pretty good day. All the thought and prep paid off. I chopped it up and brought the head ache bar down to where it's suppose to be. Used some coat hanger wire to keep the tubes aligned and went for it. Thinking that if I really messed this up, I could either build another one, or do a jeep body on a regular chassis build....boring

Also braced the chassis with a bracket to keep it from rolling forward:

I didn't take a pic of the whole brace and should have...you can see the plate where I will mount the battery.

This is how it sits now:

Everything is pretty square now...the bumper is a bit off and the body still needs a bit of work...trimming and such

I plan to incorporate the fender flairs from the dingo body on this and this will help with the tire clearance.

I need some body filler....this would be an exterior fill on a lexan body...I can paint it a rust color...any ideas ???

After looking at this....I think my spare is sitting too high...

I think I am my worst critic

Looks awesome Greg

The spare does look a lil high but where else can you put it?

Wow its looking great! Its really coming along nicely. The body choice is sweet and looks good.

I agree its a bit on the high side. Maybe a mount at the tail end of the tubes and keep tire vertical?

Wow looking good , nice work. If your going to use a filler on lexan make sure you scuff the area with at least 180 grit sand paper or it will not stick to it , it may not any ways. But the sanding will help ,never tried filler on lexan. It wont flex like the lexan so it may pop off if it takes a hit , there are some automotive fillers for plastic bumpers. You may have to find one of them

I always wondered about lexan and fillers.

I see it done to the hard bodies but they hardly flex.

I didn't think about the lexan flexing...

Hey Post, hope you are able to find way to keep tire.

I think I have....it will change how I planned to do the back and scale accesories....but gotta have the spare.
The lexan and styrene combo worked pretty good...now painting it will be the thing. I've never attempted this before....and the seams aren't as nice as I'd like...but, compromises are abundant in this build...

I agree..the spare is a must..it adds to the detail.

I have to try my hand at this lexan/styrene combination. Maybe when i have more free time. At least on your body you have a partial lexan back that will add strength.

My friend...we all need more time in life to get our builds done....

Post, are you painting the outside ?
Do you guys scuff your bodies before painting ? Or have you ever used a adhesion promoter?
just wondering because I always have but I see guys not doing it and then they wonder why their paint falls off.

Hey Chris...i tried scuffing a lexan body from the inside so the paint could have something to hold on to...once i finished painting i had the most scratched up rig around. I think it works when painting on the outside of the lexan body or a hard body.

Now a days i just make sure i thoroughly wash the lexan body and hands before painting as well as make sure i have a new bag in the booth.

Lobo , what did you use to scuff it? I have never been able to see my scuff marks. I use a red or grey scotch brite pad , the burnt orange on wreckluse 1 was done with a red scotch brite pad and then sprayed with Bulldog adhesion promoter (which is clear) then color .

Hey Pale...I use a scotch brite pad with some ajax cleanser or some other white powder cleanser...make sure it's completely rinsed off and dry. It gets pretty scuffed up inside...I don't do the windows. I've always done the inside of the lexan body...never the outside. In this case I wil paint the outside of the styrene of course but I leave the film peel on it until I'm done. The rest is painted from the inside. I've never had a paint chip up on me, but you have to get the right paint also. Pactra makes the best, Tamiya paints are a close second. Some think that you can use just any paint but you can't. It has to be a lexan paint or a Polycorbonate paint so it's flexible...it'll chip on you no matter how well you do the prep if you use the wrong paint.

Of course a hard shell is a totally different animal...still getting used to those shells...

Lobo must have scrubbed it pretty hard to get scratches....
