So...have to figure in a winch...not a fan of them right off the bat....but lost about 30 points in the last comp because I didn't have one.
So...Heyok servo winch looks pretty good...
3 racing is out of the question IMO...seen two of them burn up.
I could do a combo...3 racing winch and Heyok controller....but that's just cosmetic for me and I don't have the space since I loaded my lights where the cosmetic winch would go...
So..
Two strikes...Heyok seems the best option so far...

Anybody got an opinion ???

Ordered a HeyOK servo winch...a few PM's back and forth from Al and we're good to go. He's real easy to deal with Even figured out how to mount it today with a little help from Meatwad....pictures at 11

Or at least after I get the winch...

Damn i missed all this activity.

Post those were some cool pics...checked them out on the photobucket account. who comes up with the road course? do you guys all discuss it before hand and then create or was it at the hands of the organizers? rainy comp, lol, love the radio bags.

Love the rocky terrain...

thanks Alex...I got to shoot some pics while the class one guys were running...and yes, there was a bag over the camera too . My shoes will never be the same...and I had mud clear to my knees but had a great time. I literally shot the entire truck with the water hose in the driveway when I got home...wiped her down and shot the bearings and the shafts with some silicone spray. Checked it this weekend and it's free and clean.

There are a couple of old vets and organizers that set the courses up...they really test your abillity and your set-ups. there is no discussion other than those guys...and we are at their mercy.

So, I got a delima for you guys....I have a 3PK Futaba transmitter and it uses 603fs rcvr s ....they have 4 slots for input. I use the standard #1 for steering, #2 for ESC, #3 for BEC, and the fourth for my lights (standard Axial light controller). I have a servo winch from HeyOK with a controller on it's way (f'n snail mail)...it uses a slot as well. So I have 5 plugs and 4 slots...I can use a "Y" splitter...but who get's to share a plug???

also not sure I can program a 3-pos switch off the AUX port and I don't think the BEC works out of the AUX port either

I don't want to re-wire the BEC and servo...it works as it is right now. I did find some info about wireing the servo and BEC together in a "Y" but don't want to change the wireing if I don't have to
If it's not broke, don't fix it mentality... I'm trying to keep this simple...but given a bit more thought, this may be the only way to go...

My guess is do the "Y" thing with the steering servo and the lights since the lights are just looking for power and not any kind of switching function. I'm at a loss here....and yes, I did search but couldn't find anything that addressed these issues

Any insight here O-Gurus of RC ??? I certainly don't want to fry anything...

You can do the channel you said. It really will work in any slot.
Inside a receiver, all the negative pins are connected together and all the positive pins are connected together.

I've got some of those futaba extensions for you as well to make your own y's. The way that works for me is connecting together anything that only requires power and not a pwm signal, as long as its all star grounded back to the rx. In other words, don't leave a pwm wire hanging by itself without a ground wire per device.. not sure how futaba radios react but spek's go crazy.

Thanks Mr. hope you get some free time this weekend...
I'm sure my trusty Futaba wouldn't like it either...
