Default Poison Spyder Wreckluse Build

Poison Spyder Wreckluse Build

I purchased The RCP Wreckluse Chassis a couple weeks ago along with a set of Wraith Axles, Axial Transmission, Axial Posts, and other misc items. I still have a long way to go, but thought I'd start here by showing some unboxing pics. I will be doing a 1.9 Build and I may change this axle choice if my budget allows for Vanquish's new Currie Rockjocks. I will update as soon as I get the ball rolling. By the way, this will be my first attempt at a scratch build and I am sure I will have a million snags along the way. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Box Arrived:

Parts Inside: Panels, Hood, Skidplate, Stickers, Hardware for panels

The Wreckluse Chassis:

Some Axial Parts, Traxxas Rod Ends, and TSS Grill:

Links, Rod Ends and Seet screws all in place:

I still have a lot of work to do, but I will update as the work progresses. I also plan on using some styrene for the interior. It will be my first time working with styrene, so this should be interesting. If you have any helpful advice on styrene or the overall build all together, I look forward to your suggestions.

Thanks,

Guam RC

Just wanted to see how it would look with the set of 1.9 Flatirons I had lying around:

Just to get an idea:

I plan on going with either one of these 1.9's:

1) MT TTC Baja Claw
2) RC4WD TSL Boggers
3) RC4WD Interco IROK Super Swampers

Also, I really want these Vanquish Currie Rockjocks to go on the Wreckluse (If only my budget allows me to):

So it has been and will be a very slow build... However, I got to working a little on the ring and pinion and lockers for the axles:

Bag "O" Parts:

Matching the parts to the instructions:

Ring, Pinion, and Lockers all assembled:

Will update as more work is done to this rig...

Got the wraith axles done!

now time to work on the trans...

Finished the trans:

Axles and Trans:

I got some mock ups done today. The following links were used:
Front Upper – 60mm
Front Lower – 50mm
Rear Upper – 70mm
Rear Lower – 60mm

I am debating on axing the AR60 axles and going with SCX10 axles for a more scale look, but we’ll see how things take shape later in the build. I still have to sort out many bugs but will have more updates to come…

Very cool Tony , lookin good so far . Glad to see your doing a build thread . I think you will like the width of the 60's , not so tippy side to side , but its up to you the IROK's will help they are a little wider. Good grease choice to. What shocks are you planning .I have to flip my 60's tomorrow for better shaft clearance around the skid plate. Oh also headlights for the TSS grill I figured something out let me know if you have a plan yet .

Looking good so far, Ive built 2 of these so for I used the tamiya toyota hilux light buckets and lenses they fit perfect. I just used a little super glue around the backs of the buckets. I also have templates for all the interior that i built using styrene,if your interested pm me. Keep up the good work.
Here is a link to my build thread on another site it may give you some ideas.

Yes I will be running the pumpkins on the right , I think it will give me the clearance I need on this one . I will get some pics of the light buckets I used shortly ,I used Axial lights with the guard on they fit perfectly into the grill I just took the grid off the front of the light ,like this

Hope this helps I will paint the edge of the bucket silver so it looks better

Ah...just saw this thread this morning...Mr. Guam builds a Wreckluse

Only suggestion I have so far is some hardened Robinson gears in the tranny. Depending on what kind of power plant you have in mind, those plastic gears would be the first to go...and the hardest to get to once you have this built and an interior in place. For me it would be cheap insurance...

Glad to see you get a good start on this. I concur with PaleBlue ...keep the AR60 axels, it will help with stability...with this rig (top heavy) you will want that. I love mine....

HEY just peeped this thread....

you're off to a heck of a good start.

Sweet grill as well...if you dont mind, where did you order from?

Also i agree with Postclanker...Robinson racing gears in the tranny will give you peace of mind. after everything is built...they are really a pain to get to.

Will keep watching your progress while still working on my rig

thanks for posting the pictures Guam

Fastfred...i got to get on baord with Pale...that is a sweet wreckluse...the paint job is awesome.

I purchased the TJ Grill at The Scale Shop. They also have YJ Gand CJ grills. Depending on their stock, they have them in aluminum and steel. Here is the link:

I can't say i haven't since i always replace them when I start a build. I replace them for peace of mind. I want to make sure i don't have to go back into the tranny once im done.

I remember you saying you used stock gears when pulling, which i find amazing. I have had gears strip and or melt back in the day when running my Losi JRXT, Traxxas Nitro Hawk and RC10GT.

Thanks Guam for posting the link...i bookmarked it for future use

I personally have not blown any...but I've always replaced them at build level. I've know a few that have though...I agree with Alex's assessment ...I would be very disheartened to have to get to my tranny in my Wreckluse , I'm sure it wouldn't go back together the same

The Posion Spyder Wreckluse Build has been very slow so far...

I am still waiting for the following parts to come in:

1) 1.9 MT Baja Claw TTC (4.75)
2) Gear Head RC 1.9 CAC ONE9 12 Hole Bead lock Wheels
3) Robinson Racing Solid Output
3) Robinson Racing Idler Gear

So in the meantime, I'm going to plan the styrene interior and inner front and rear fender wells... Oh yeah, and finalize the links! On another RC note, I still have my TF2 and SCX10 Builds to tackle:

Also have my son's drifter that we messed with in the meantime...

Anyway, enough of that... I will update as soon as my parts arrive...

Happy New Year!
