Default Flat Bed Fred

One of our local clubs is having a build off This is my entry ..you can find our other build here Usca Build Off ..

I don’t have a bunch of new parts to show you as I will be reusing most of my old Honcho that I was in the middle of rebuilding all the drive train on anyway. The plan is a Flat bed truck with a lil bit shorter links in the rear and to keep the bed nice and flat I’m gonna run 55mm touring car shocks Plans for a Dinky RC Interior with a brake line roll cage are in my head. I’ll be doing all the tube work in my cold Garage. its been single deg for the last week or two. burrrr heres what I have so far

Flat Bed Fred Specs:

Axial Chassis, Honcho body, Flat bed.

Front axle. Overdriven, Hot racing locker, Axial alum CHubs. Knucks, Dogbones, Three linked with Hands Bro CMS kit, Axial 103mm shocks with all the fancy alum stuff.

Rear axle. HD gears, stock Locker, Axial alum Lock outs. 4 link set up with 55mm touring car shocks.

Trans. RR One piece diff, idler WB8 driveshafts

HS-7955tg Steering
985 Winch W/HeyOK controller
FXR
CC BEC
20t Holmes Hobby Crawl Master
Undecided on wheels and tires.. dang/darn/flippin budgets prolly end up reusing my worn out pit bills

my pile of parts

I started by remaking the center brace out of brake line

on to the rear tube work and sliders 3/16 solid and brake line

and a battery tray for fun

Thanks ..it was my first ever try at sheet metal work .. it turned out alright

I got the Dinky Rc Interior but having a hard time liking it, Don't get me wrong it nice and fits well .. but I had a 3d interior in the truck before the rebuild and feel like I'm taking a step back ..

this weekend I'm going to try and form a wood "buck" for the bed and use a vac table to pull a styrene bed if that goes bad I have some RC4WD tread plate.

heres what I came up with for a bed ..

I went over to Wills house and with some wood and tread plate from RC4WD I made this ..

With some heat and a vacuum table we got this ..

Some trimming..

Some Black paint..(still wet )

I still need to drill and mount it ..The one pictured is 1 of 2 I have I'll take my time and trim the other one better. So hows that for a custom built part ?
