Default Die-Laughing's Class2 Ultra4 Jeep!

Ok.. So, I recently acquired this chassis. I thought it was too cool to pass up. I retired my old Ford F-350 "Maniac" Chassis and this is going to be my new main bitch.

Here is the 1:1 build thread:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gener...car-lii-7.html

Here is the mattzilla build thread:
Project RC4WD Buildoff entry: Molton Motorsports 2013 Ultra 4 Rig

The rig came with a chassis, a new bright jeep body that has been started and an additional new bright jeep body. The chassis is going to need some attention & finishing as well as the body work.

My plans are to finish the tube work including spare tire carrier, front bumper, new forward transmission mount for the AX2 2spd trans, new skid plate to mount GCM case and incorporated link mounts.. and just general tube work. I'm going to follow the 1:1 build as a guide but, also throw my own flavor in there as well.

I'm really looking forward to getting this rig going! More pics on the way!

I don't have any of my own pictures yet but, here are a few to give you an idea..

It's mostly a hood & front fenders.. other than that, I'm going to fab up some panels to go over the door & maybe the rear quarter.

I haven't got that far just yet. I'll probably make a dash and get my hands on some buckets and make it work.

Here's a few pictures of the 1:1 this rig is based off of...

This is what I'm loosely shooting for.

Thanks! I don't know how much the chassis weighs but, it's definitely got some weight to it.

My club allows cut & shut tires in Class 2 so, I had a buddy put these together for me.. 2.2 Pit Bulls reduced to fit a 1.9 wheel coming in at 4.75" x 2.16" x 1.9".. These things are meaty! That is a cut & shut TSL SX in the picture with it.

Honestly, I haven't decided if I'm going to use these on this build or not. It depends how they look. I might switch to regular 1.9 Pit Bulls.

I got some work done today. I fabbed up a forward transmission mount that will hold my RC4WD AX2 2spd transmission. I made a transfercase mount that will cradle my GCM case...

The trans mount has a little bit of an angle in it so the spur fits under the hood. also should help to lower the COG a touch.

The case will set below floor level to assist in making a killer full interior when I get that far.

I got a little carried away with the case cradle but, I think it turned out pretty cool.

here are a few with some gear mounted..

rear view:

I'm happy with how things are going so far. I ran into a little problem with my trans to case short drive shaft.. it's a pretty severe angle.. I might have to machine a piece and use the MIP ends on it.

I'm also curious to see how the AX2 trans will hold up to Pro4 4000kv power through the single output to the case.

I think these TSL SX look a little more real. That the pit bull. might be the picture are maybe the lack of foams?

I agree.. first impressions are that the TSL's look better as cut & shuts. But, the TSL is mounted to a wheel and has a foam in it. The Pit Bull is unmounted with no foam. I think the Pit Bull will round out a little more with a foam in it.
and, I believe that the Pit Bull cut & shut will absolutely crush the TSL in terms of performance.

Thanks.. No, It's just it's own chassis I suppose. It was built to utilize a scx10 skid plate but, I kinda ditched that idea. Now I have to get creative when it comes to figuring out link mounts/locations.

I do think foam will help a lot.

I also think pitbull rubber is rocking.

I thought to be Class 2 it had to be on a frame and not all tube? Im only asking cuz I'm planning a Ultra 4 build shortly that we plan to use a SCX chassis base and be able to swap from Wraith to SCX axles so I can run Class 2 or 3.

Yeah.. you should probably look into that. You're probably right.

However, I don't really pay attention to all that.. I kinda just do whatever I want.

Yea its kind of a pain unless the groups around you are running kinda off the oll rules and just going by 1.9 and 2.2. But unfortunately for me most clubs run under class 1, 2, 3. But from what I understand its G6 Ultra 4 legal. I dont know all these new rules confuse the hell outta me. Lol
