thanks man. i had the first failure today. the drive line from the tranny to the t-case stripped, i only got to drive it for about 10 minutes. but it was fun. need ot dial back the drag brake too. and get shorter shocks. maybe only 80mm front and back.

well since everyone is so interested in this thread-o-mine, i figured i'd post up my headlight progress. got some cheap Cree led flash lights from ebay. about $6 each, and like 300 lumens. super bright little thing. so i just took the led assembly off, filled down the tactical bumps on the end, and using some E6000 to attach to the body. they should be about as bright as you can get on an rc truck. i was gonna just use the led assembly, but they creat some heat and i wanted the clunkier part of the flashlight in there to act as a heat sink and also protect the thing from the elements. this thing will have to be going through some completely submerged obstacles at our upcoming even over at VAscaler.com VA-Scaler hosting 1st Camel Trophy Team Challenge June 1st, 2013 here are a couple pics of the things getting glued in. exciting stuff isnt it! |

ok, so here is the how to. its pretty simple man. so dont get scared of it. if you can do some simple soldering you should be fine. on my led the inner circle is the postive, and the outer brass circle is the negative. should be the same on just about all CREE leds. take the solder iron and tin a small part of the brass on the positive and negative. also tin the wire you are using. then just solder them together. the other side is a little bit trickier only because you soldering 4 wires onto one led. tin 4 spots on the led, and solder the wires from the first led to the correct spots. then solder the power supply wires on. they just get plugged into a battery. the battery is the cool part, at least i think so. these cree leds are designed for a single cell lipo. so just use an old cell phone battery. solder on a plug and switch and away you go. you can now charge the cell phone battery with your charger too. cell phone batteries can be had on ebay for about $7 shipped. |
