D90 class 1. by mjderstine well, most of you know this already, but i have changed the dingo to a d90. and well, this body is awesome. its def heavy with all the interior stuff in it but just looks killer. took the anodizing off the wheels and love the new look. going to have a transfer case on this one too. got a GCM on the way, and need to relocate the tranny forward a little bit to make that work. should be pretty sweet though. also gotta make some things a bit heavier on this thing. just too much weight up top on it. color. leaning towards camel trophy yellow. but it needs to look more faded somehow, the stuff from tamiya is just too yellow for my tastes. might just head to Home Lowes and find something that is a little more faded looking. also took all the chrome off the palstics today, just spray them with some oven cleaner, wait ten minutes, and rinse. stuff just disolves the chrome right off. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps5de7c30e.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...pse9dbe709.jpg |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine What are you going to be running in this beast? |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine motor? 35 turn integy. stock gearing. on 3s. these axials are pretty peppy with that setup. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine here is the interior. the main color is camo tan drab color. its hard to tell, but painted some of the trim a light brown to be like wood. added some black and silver to some things too. oh and why does my steering wheel not look the same as yours HD? http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps1a186991.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psa2aff9b8.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps810486bb.jpg |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine got the chassis brace done for the forward mounted tranny. went in pretty nice and simple. need ot make the sliders now. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psb4104460.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps53c12baf.jpg |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine here is the motor mounted and the t-case in. had to trim the interior a little bit, but not as much as i would have to w/o the transfer case. this is a pretty sweet set-up now. really liking it http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...pse118c156.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps8f317fca.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps864c1244.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps33431c1c.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps5a2ba298.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps615730ee.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps7f7ce59c.jpg |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine got more done. got all the windows in. need to get some little things done, but its pretty close to getting done. got the body mounts done too. wish i didnt grind the back off where the holes are thicker, but oh well, they should still hold anyway. 4 bolts will def do the trick. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps114c5603.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psc8592e91.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psbd2c8b27.jpg |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine Looks good. Now we've got to get HD going. He's falling behind. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine thanks man. his is going. he just likes to paint the thing really well. i dont have the patience for that. put a few coats on, and then wet sanded it to give it a nice patina. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine It turned out really good "thumbsup" I like how you brazed the front shock hoops right to the chassis. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine thanks man. i should probably do the same on the rear. just to get all the scale points i can. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine Looking great MJ. I guess Im going to have to step up my project. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine would really like some advice on gluing the interior to the body... anyone have some pics of their glue jobs? |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine What did you to get the rear wheel centerline to be centered. I'm using the axial scx10 kit straight from the box. I've got front centered but not the back at the moment. Is there a specific length rear links you used? Thanks |
Quote:
I can measure the links when I get home |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine The metal links that connect to the axle to the frame near the tranny. I think mine are the standard 91 mm. |
I get it now. Ill take some measurements tonight. But they might not work for you since I cut the front and rear links. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine rears bottom shafts are both stock ball joints with a 86mm shaft. top rear are 68 but with xr10 ball ends front bottom are 81mm with stock ball and on one side and revo end on one side front top is a pan hard. |
Re: D90 class 1. by mjderstine got this thing done. well done as far as driveable goes. got all the elecs installed. took the winch out because i stripped the homemade spools, need to get some from that one guy who makes them ;) all waterproof and stuff too. and check out my easy access battery box. just flip the thing over and slide one in. the compression of some foam in there keep the battery from scooting around. the wires look messy, but they arent when the body gets installed. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psf4df8031.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psc47df819.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...pscb1b73fa.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ps7b5fcdd4.jpg |
