The first day of the build I worked on the drawing and bent most of the metal for the main parts of the chassis. So the first day actually building was maybe an hour or two. After that there were some longer sessions just trying to figure some things out. Quote:
Thanks man. Most of the chassis was done earlier today, it turned out pretty good until I noticed part of the rear end was tweaked. So these photos are before I cut the rear end up to fix the issue. I still need to attach the upper links, but the wheelbase is about where it needs to be now. It is currently sitting 11 inches nut to nut (I.E badger and Baller any given weekend). | ||

| Re: Rusty's Jeep Not yet! I got to drive this one at least once before you get your grubby paws on it. Picked up some electronics today. I opened up the servo to check it out and noticed some extra parts in it, so I went ahead and ripped them out. Then I noticed no wires were coming out of it so I jammed some new ones in. I went ahead and added some string on a round thing, just incase. Then stuck it in the front for some extra weight. Also got the hood sanded, primed and the cage work painted. Oh yeah this thing is a roller! I generally don't stand the shocks so vertically when I build, so it is sitting a bit high. I order the softest Axial spring they offer for these SCX10 shocks, so hopefully that will help get it a bit lower. |

Thanks man. I like it. A couple more small updates. Got some paint on the hood and the seats for this jeep showed up the other day. I will have to get this rig out on the sun so you can see that color better, it is more of a dull darker red. For some reason it is showing up really bright, oh well. One more little mock up. I still might cut the hood a little more, I haven't decided yet... I am also hoping that once the interior and electronics all go in it will sit lower. I am weighing the options on the ride height right now. |

Thanks buddy! Messed around with this rig a little bit today. I made some templates for styrene panels and made some aluminum panels for the time being. I also started getting the seats in, I think they could sit a hair lower. I took the spring retainers off the rear shocks to get it sitting where it needs to be. It is slowly coming along. |

Thats cool as hell! Those seats definetly need to come down a hair, real life that would NOT be a safe setup. Crack your skull on that cage-helmet or not! Seen that happen, not fun. (I know its an Rc, but shit )

Thanks buddy! I will get those seats down a bit lower today and try to get this one running. And maybe if it is warmer then 10 degrees outside I will make the light bar... I'm just not sure if I have 4 of those big Axial light buckets.

Alright got the seats down a bit today and more importantly I got it running. Sorry Colby, but it might be a little while before you get your hands on this one, I am starting to really like it. I also mocked in the light bar, luckily I had 4 of those lights sitting around. I just super glued them to a piece of steel so I can get an idea of what they would look like. I think I like it and am ready to start brazing it together. I love how big and pissed it looks while still being cute and compact. That might be all the updates for a week or so. I am taking a vacation! |

I am on kid duty most of this week, but she wanted to spend sometime in the garage today so I got to work on this rig a little. Started out by putting these on all 4 corners to get the ride height I am after. With these springs I was able to put the spring retainers back on the rear end. These are as soft as it gets and I think it will work. And I was over the aluminum panels, they were just too thin so I made up the styrene panels. I had a little accident with the hood so after I sand that back down I will get some paint on everything. Slowly getting back on this one. |

Nothing better than hearing: "Daddy...I love building trucks with you." Spending time with kids and getting them involved is a win win. I could however do without him hiding my little expensive parts. Nice work Ty...it's looking really sharp. My helper today. |
