Rusty's Jeep I have been eyeing this one for a little one and decided it was time to try my hand at it. This is Rusty Bray's buggy. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps78f30a90.jpg As always I started with a plan. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...psb4299373.jpg Grabbed some wheels, tires and fancy rings from MThead. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps559d6199.jpg And cut up a New Bright TJ body then narrowed it a little. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps090fcdb1.jpg As always I have modified the design a little to fit my needs and this one is going to a smaller scale with a wheelbase around 11". Should be another fun, small buggy. More soon! |
Re: Rusty's Jeep Should be a cool one to watch! "thumbsup" |

Re: Rusty's Jeep Thanks everyone! Got a little bit more done on the chassis today. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps0236414d.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...psb85d4287.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps9fa0729a.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...psfcb2b67f.jpg I need to change the links out, Shorten the front a hair and lengthen the rear. Wheelbase is about 11.5" right now. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...pse3ed0159.jpg I also need to drop the hood down and shorten the front hoops a little. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps30e4b2ac.jpg It is getting close. I was going to X out the doors and roof, but I think it is over kill and no one will ever see it anyway. |
Re: Rusty's Jeep Suer cool. Great inspiration. I love these little buggies. Nice and simple. |
looks awsome and subscribed.... want to see more... some day I have to try to make my own... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Re: Rusty's Jeep Thanks guys! Didn't get a lot done today, but did cut the shock hoops out and redo them. They are shorter now and allow the hood to sit where is is suppose too. I also got the front shock mounting tabs on. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps369fd2a4.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps51b3ddf6.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps790340e3.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps0254029f.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps6159b861.jpg I cut about a 1/4" out of the windshield piece (the parts that attaches to the hood). I think it helps the look on the front end. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps1a82f233.jpg |
Re: Rusty's Jeep awesome start cant wait to see how it turns out |
Re: Rusty's Jeep Thanks! Got a lot more done on the chassis in the last couple of days. Most of the nuts are brazed on for the body panels and a couple more support bars are in. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps5e33a870.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps0768a13c.jpg I mocked up a 3 racing winch on the front and it is much too big so I decided to just tuck the front bumper up too the body. Im not happy with this current bumper though and am going to cut it off and make a hoop that follows the grill shape. Hopefully I can figure out how to bend it. After that I will just make a plate under the hood for a servo winch. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps979a08c4.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps5f13b1a4.jpg A few things left on the chassis; new front bumper, light bar tabs, servo winch plate... and I think that is it. |
