Default Old Skool DC Blazer build for the Old Man

I got my dad into hobby with a custom built RS10 based tuber, then he got a wraith. For Christmas I got him the DC blazer body for said wraith, we trimmed it out and did a rough test fit. his impression was that the front axel was too far forward, fair enough. But he didn't want to move the axle, his solution?? leave the wraith as it was and do a custom build for the DC body.... well, ALRIGHT!

He bent and cut the frame to his liking and then handed it off to me. I am doing the suspension layout and then will build a full race style cage for it. We are planning on cutting the hood out and hinging it. The theme is '70s off road and I will be basing the cage off of several roll bar styles from that era.

Parts list thus far: 4-3-13

ESC and 15t motor form a Twin Hammers
1.9 RC4WD chrome wagon wheels
1.9 Rock creepers
Axial trans w/ skid
Creeper axles
G-made G-transitions
lime green shock boots
DC blazer body
Hand made frame

Now for pics, the axial frame parts for mock up only.

Thumbs up Re: Old Skool DC Blazer build for the Old Man

Looks like your off to a great start! I have always wanted to see that body on something other than a wraith.

got her running Sunday, 20t pinion and the stock 87t spur with that TH 15t brushed motor. She is pretty fast, faster then anything I have ever ran! right now as just a chassis the shocks are pretty stiff and it is super controllable. I shot a vid on my WP8 but I can't figure out how to upload it anywhere, I may just throw it to youtube. I am very happy with it, need to get my torch bottles filled and I can start on the cage.
